Jack Melore Jack Melore 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Smithtown West | 2024 State NY is a player I have had a pleasure of seeing at multiple camps and he is one of those receivers who beyond having the requisite athleticism to play at the next level has smooth suave feel to his route running. Melore knows how to get open and whether is his precise footwork or his body positioning he can do so at all three levels off the field. Melore is not just a high level camp WR who has success without the pads. Everything you see in his camp tape is what you see when Fall rolls around. Melore also has some of the best hands in the state, his ability to use concentration and catch away from his body consistently translates to the next level consistently and his ability to make plays after the catch come down to his vision and ability to use blockers finding open space and creating tough angles for defenders to catch him.

A historic season for the senior, as Melore broke the Long Island career reception record with 158 catches. Almost all of those were in just two seasons. Melore consistently beat double teams and made plays when it mattered most. He broke the single game reception record with 17 in a wild 70-68 playoff loss to Hills West.

It was tough to have a better statistical junior season than Melore. He led Long Island in catches and receiving yards while also breaking the Long Island single season reception record with 69 grabs. Melore was my top long island public school receiver this summer. He dominated at showcases against elite DB’s from all over. He has incredible hands and his ball skills are simply some of the best you’ll see in the state. In this high flying offense, look for Melore to have a great year.

If it was anywhere near Melore, he was hauling it in. He went against some talented defensive backs but it didn’t matter. He used his solid size to his advantage and he was catching everything.

Did anyone have a stronger summer in front of Prep Redzone Scouts? Everywhere Melore went he was a top player and it just puts more evidence on him being one of the top returning WR’s in New York. He may not have the most elite measurables or athleticism but Melore has the route runner and catching ability to be a really good FCS prospect.

Another day where Melore was the most dominant receiver on the field. He hauled in the most passes out of anybody. He created separation with ease and his superior route running was on display. Melore showcased his deep threat ability with a couple of long touchdowns. He also was a problem in the middle of the field as he caught several passes in traffic against some tough defenses.

One of the top wide receivers at the entire event. Melore was extremely consistent and made it look easy. He showed his versatility of coming down with 50/50 balls and being one of the top route runners. Melore’s smoothness in his game showed and he had some of the best hands at the event. When the ball was in Melore’s area he was coming down with it. His straight line speed was also impressive as that guided him to a couple of big plays downfield. Last year he broke the Long Island single season record for receptions and with how consistent his hands are it’s easy to see why.
