#3 DB overall in New York Ervin Wiggins Ervin Wiggins 5'9" | 175 lbs | DB East | 2024 State NY is a 3-position defensive back and although undersized is one of the most dynamic athletes and playmakers in the state. With the ability to lineup at corner, nickel, and safety Wiggins brings a ton of versatility to Albany and his ability to come down hill and play physical against the run with his man coverage skills make him a really impressive prospect. Wiggins has really fluid hips and can change direction at a high level. Wiggins has great ball skills and his closing speed on the catch point in coverage and in pursuit of ball carriers showcase consistently on film his ability to always be around the ball making plays. Wiggins, was one of the best two-way players in New York this year but will play just defense for the Great Danes and with his skillset I would expect a special teams impact from the jump for Wiggins.

A continued theme of development over multiple seasons as Wiggins has risen up our rankings. Wiggins has gone from 96 -> 80 -> 20 as one of the most dynamic two-way player in New York. Wiggins, already enrolled at Albany will be playing mostly defensive back but his production on both sides of the ball matches the athleticism and instincts you see on tape. Wiggins had 5 INTs returned for touchdowns and scored 22 touchdowns this season doing so as a receiver, runner, returner, and defender. Wiggins may not be the biggest or fastest athlete but his play speed is his best ability. Not many read and react as quickly as Wiggins, his ability to play fast and his feel for the game are evident on tape and why he was such a dominant player as a Senior.

Was very physical all night long for East on defense and special teams. From my count he had 7 tackles and 1 for loss and a touchdown reception in East’s championship win.

The Syracuse University commit has done damage all season long for the Eagles of East High. A player who can play on either side of the ball at the college level. As a receiver Wiggins Jr. has put up 728 yards on 36 receptions and 11 receiving touchdowns. On defense Ervin has 73 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 6 interceptions with 5 of them being returned for touchdowns. Wiggins Jr. also added a kickoff return for a touchdown giving Wiggins Jr. 17 total touchdowns on the season.

Number 9 has looked unbelievable this season, and QBs really need to stop throwing his way because he could make it a house call in a flash. So far, Wiggins Jr. has 4 INTs on the season, and all of them were for TDs. The ability to bait the QB and react to a ball thrown his way with his great speed was shown throughout. That speed was also very useful on the offensive side of the football and on special teams. When it came to the WR position, Ervin was able to stretch the field vertically for his team. Being able to confidently beat defenders over the top or having to make over the shoulder catches were shown on film. East High School knows that simply getting this guy the football and letting him make a play will result in good things for their team. So much fun watching this young man’s highlights and will be as well at the end of the year.

Another one of East High’s talented 2024’s athlete Ervin Wiggins Ervin Wiggins 5'9" | 175 lbs | DB East | 2024 State NY has finally picked up his second D1 offer after holding a Georgia Southern offer since last summer. And several days ago Wiggins picked up another D1 offer from UAlbany after having a stellar camp. Wiggins who plays LB in high school but projects as a DB at the collegiate level has the physicality and quickness to play nickel and help out against the run should find himself with more offers come this fall.

The most physical and arguably the most athletic cornerback I saw during the first pod at the downstate classic. I had a hard time believing that he was making a transition to corner because he made things look natural at the downstate classic. He brought the physicality and intensity to every single rep. He was a beast in press coverage, as he gave receivers a tough time off the line with his strength. His pure speed and solid change of direction allowed him to shut down some of the fastest receivers at the event

Ervin Wiggins Ervin Wiggins 5'9" | 175 lbs | DB East | 2024 State NY plays that SS/OLB position for East but I think due to his athleticism and size translates as a safety at the next level who can line up with some versatility and around the box. Wiggins plays with great physicality and can be a presence coming downhill and making plays in the run game. His burst and explosiveness make offensive lineman struggle to deal with his aggressive style getting into the backfield. In coverage, Wiggins could improve in mirroring and staying tighter in 1v1 matchups but in zone coverage he is aggressive in reading the quarterback and flying to the ball. Wiggins may not have the range of other safety prospects in this class but is one of the most physical tacklers.
