Not every prospect can be selected for the best-vs-best at the end of camp, but there was a good number of very deserving athletes that need to be highlighted. Some of which, are 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist kids in their state. Here’s a look.
Without question, one of the best 2028 prospects in the state of New Jersey. At 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds with excellent length and 4.87 hand-timed forty speed, Xavier Rodriguez should have his choice of private schools when that time comes. The wide receiver is a great kid on and off the field. Get familiar here.
Highlights
At 6-foot-4 and 170 pounds, when Davis puts it all together, he’s going to be one heck of a football and basketball player. A 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist athlete out of New Jersey, his length is second to none and he was clocked at a 4.91 in the forty. This kid is only going to get bigger and better. Buy stock now.
It was my fourth time seeing Harris Jr. play live since December, and while it wasn’t his best day, he’s still a prospect that people are going to hear about. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Maryland native’s dual-threat ability didn’t translate the best in a camp setting, but the kid can play–trust me on that. He’s on the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist for a reason.
Knapp was part of a strong Massachusetts contingency at the Prep Redzone Next Rising Prospect Camp in New Jersey. He battled the horrible driving conditions and made it down to camp a bit late, but still did this thing. As a tight end on offense, the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder was doing well but really started to shine when he took reps as a linebacker. So much so, that I changed his position on the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist from tight end to linebacker. He’ll be at Buckingham Brown & Nichols (BBN) next season.
Highlights
New York’s Jai Phillips checks every box on the card when it comes to physical tools. At 6-foot-1, 160 pounds with identical 4.6 times in the forty, he has a boat load of potential and ability. He came to camp as a running back, but I think a position change to wide receiver or safety will be a game-changer for him.
Another prospect from The Empire State that did well at camp was Travis Tolbert Jr. of Geneva, New York. Tolbert Jr. showed up late due to weather, but had a great showing as a corner. He put on some obvious muscle mass since the last time I saw him play live and out of every corner there, did a great job of using the sideline as an extra defender.
Rounding out the New York prospects was running back Khaled Osman who will be at Moore Catholic High School in the fall. Osman wasn’t the fastest, best put-together or most agile, but he was a consistent worker at the camp. He’s a running back/linebacker prospect that measured in at 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds with potential.
Class of 2028 New Jersey prospect Kymore Monroe was a kid I absolutely fell in love with at camp. He came to camp as a running back but is absolutely going to be listed as an “ATH” because of his skill set. I can see the 5-foot-6, 140-pounder playing in the slot, corner, safety, outside linebacker or running back with his 4.81 speed in the forty. Plays with swagger and has that “IT” factor. I like him and his twin brother Nyko Monroe, a lot.
Sticking with class of 2028 prospects in New Jersey, Bryce Longo did some things that caught my eye at the Quarterback position at camp. Very promising size at 6-foot and 155 pounds with some good zip on his passes. The tall Southpaw has a bit of a shot put throwing motion, which he can/should work on. However, he can throw on the move or in the pocket. There’s a lot of very good football ahead for the Passaic County native.
Another quarterback, this time looking at the 2027 class, that looks like he could be eventually become a next-level player is Zachary Concepcion from East Orange, New Jersey. Concepcion passes the eye test immediately at 6-foot and 170 pounds with capped shoulders and a high school football-ready body. Plays stiff at times and was visibly hard on himself when he didn’t connect with his intended target. He’s a kid that has a good shot to get there with some fine-tuning.
Putting an exclamation point on the prospects that earned some media attention, wide receiver/tight end Gavin O’Leary. The class of 2027 Montville, New Jersey native is a bit of a project but has tools to work with. He’s a tall kid at 6-foot-2 but only weighs 140 pounds right now and doesn’t have the body control or speed needed to play wide receiver at a high level. However, he has a 78″ wing span and above average catching ability. If he works his tail off in the weight room, gets bigger and more coordinated, there’s no reason O’Leary can’t be playing on Saturday’s after his high school career.
