The Minnesota commit touched it three times in the first four snaps: swing pass for six yards, slant for eight yards, then a play-action slant where he broke a tackle and got down to the 2. Running back [player_tooltip player_id='1894139' first='Basil' last='Oshegbo'] finished that drive, but Ferguson had already set the tone. He later caught a fade pass for a touchdown from the 6 and made it look easy, then scored again on a slant from the 5. In between, he won an out on the sideline and converted a fourth-and-1 with a five-yard out plus extra after the catch. Officially, he finished with 7 catches for 92 yards. Give credit to quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1894727' first='Jackson' last='Herbert'] for taking what the defense was giving him in regards to Ferguson, and getting him the football.

[player_tooltip player_id='1894727' first='Jackson' last='Herbert'] ran the show in his first home start and put up 18-of-25 for 251 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. The sophomore quarterback threw all types of passes: swings, slants, play-action, a fade, a rollout stop, screens, a comeback, a seam, and a post. The opening drive was four throws and a touchdown run by Oshegbao. Herbert put great touch on a fade ball inside the 10 for a touchdown to Ferguson. He then hit Ferguson with a quick strike on a slant pattern for another touchdown. Herbert also got the ball out to two other targets (see below), spreading the field. McDonagh's passing game is looking great right now. Opponent beware.

[player_tooltip player_id='1894139' first='Basil' last='Oshegbo'] had a modest stat line: 7 carries for 17 yards and two touchdowns, plus 2 catches for 19 yards. Both of the touchdown runs came on goal-line carries. Multiple players had an opportunity to touch the football, and Oshegbo made the most of his. He and [player_tooltip player_id='1708724' first='Matthew' last='Tees'] will be sharing carries, giving McDonogh a solid duo in the backfield.

Raymond Queen caught four passes for 85 yards and showcased explosiveness after the catch. With Ferguson drawing a lot of attention, it meant that other receivers would have an opportunity to step up and make plays. While he didn't catch any touchdown passes, he had two catches that put the Eagles in great field position. One catch, of the short variety, put the Eagles in a first-and-goal situation from the 4-yard line. Queen's biggest catch of the game came in the second quarter. He ran a post pattern, and the quarterback caught him in stride as he got behind the defense. The play resulted in a 38-yard gain and put McDonogh at Mt. Zion Prep's 1-yard line (Oshegbo would score on the next play). Queen's ability to get separation, along with his speed, was what stood out to me against Mt. Zion Prep.

[player_tooltip player_id='2392298' first='Jamir' last='Greene'] was another freshman that Herbert trusted to get the football to. He finished with 3 catches for 42 yards, including a 20-yard completion that set up first-and-goal at the 10. As the season moves forward, more teams will start to put more attention on Fergusion coverage wise. He and Queen will get more opportunities to make plays.
