Each year, our middle school camp series uncovers some of the best prospects in the country before anyone else. I have a feeling some of the standouts at our Georgia event will be well-known very soon. Here are the prospects that took home MVP awards, courtesy of the coaches.

[player_tooltip player_id='942242' first='Malikai' last='Speed'] - WR - 2027

Speed was one of the numerous talented skill players at our camp, but he separated himself and took home the MVP award in our WR group. After testing well, he went on to turn heads and separate himself once the competition started. He is a fluid runner that keeps his head down and gets upfield in a hurry. He also flashes some impressive body control and can make plays over defenders. Keep an eye on this Atlanta area WR once he hits the high school scene.

[player_tooltip player_id='416392' first='Andrew' last='Beard'] - RB - 2027

In my opinion, the RB group was the most stacked group during the event. There were numerous future P5 football recruits participating, but Beard was able to bring home the MVP honors. Right now, Beard looks like he could hold his own on the varsity scene, and I wouldn't be at all shocked to see him shine this fall at Lincoln County. He is explosive, built extremely well, and was brilliant as a receiver. He has all the makings of an elite RB prospect down the road.

Derek Howard III - QB - 2027

Like the RB group, the QBs performed so well that it was hard to pinpoint just 1 MVP. However, the coaches gave Howard the nod. He showed really good mechanics and has a clean release. The wind knocked some of the balls down, but Howard had enough drive on the ball to get it downfield and attack all levels of the field. The Columbia, South Carolina native showed some moxy and is someone I will be tracking over the next several years.

[player_tooltip player_id='439058' first='Carter' last='Mathis'] - OL - 2027

Mathis was easily the most noticeable prospect in attendance. After all, he measures in at a cool 6'5 270 in the 8th grade. With his sheer size alone, there is a chance he can crack the rotation on varsity as a freshman. His long and strong arms allow him to manhandle defenders, especially those at his age. He will only become more athletic and strong from here and has the chance to be a profound force on the recruiting trail for the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id='656532' first='Christian' last='Williams'] - DL - 2028

North Cobb is always strong on the OL and DL. While Williams is still a year away from entering HS, he possesses some intriguing upside as a prospect on the line of scrimmage. He is a shorter and stockier prospect that is surprisingly explosive and has good burst. He is still growing and will be bigger by the time he gets to the high school stage, but for now, he is certainly a tier above everyone else in his grade when it comes to explosiveness.

[player_tooltip player_id='662007' first='Gregory' last='Batson Jr.'] - LB - 2027

Our LB MVP was easily one of the more impressive prospects at the camp. He has great size and length for a younger guy and moved well for a prospect of his size. He was able to use his length in coverage to outmatch defenders and knock the ball to the turf. Batson is a very rangey linebacker as well, showing the ability to run stride for stride with RBs downfield.

[player_tooltip player_id='674812' first='Kayden' last='Blackwell'] - DB - 2028

Feisty DB prospect that had a good showing all the way around. Was a top-end tester that showed some impressive burst and agility. Those two things were put on display later in camp as he could run with any receiver and played the football well. I was also impressed with his ability to find the football and jump passes. All in all, he is an impressive CB prospect with a few years of growth ahead of him before he steps foot on the varsity scene.

[player_tooltip player_id='243535' first='Mikel' last='Stephen'] - RB - 2027

Stephen has a chance to be one of the premier RBs in Georgia in the 2027 class. He is built extremely well and already looks like he can handle a heavy workload at the varsity level. He also put his speed and burst on full display, winning our fastest-man competition at the end of camp. Stephen is plenty athletic, passes the eye test, and will only get better from here. Remember the name.
