Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A speedy, shifty back who can score from anywhere on the field, Beard is coming off an outstanding sophomore season and started his junior year with a bang in the season-opener against Callaway. In the first game of the season, Beard ran wild for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 71 more yards and another score. He’s elusive, shows terrific footwork, and has enough speed to out-run defenders down the field. Look for Beard to be one of the most productive running backs in the state throughout the 2025 season. He holds offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Oklahoma, among others.

Beard played his sophomore season at Prince Ave Christian in Athens. He was coming off an MVP performance at the Elite Classic and finished in the Top 10% in both the 40 and the shuttle run at the combine. Showed great hands in the 1v1’s.
Update: Currently at 5’9 185 and given a 4-star rating by the services. He had an outstanding soph season for PAC combing for close to 1900 yards with 19 TDs. P4 target with UGA, Georgia Tech and Oklahoma heavily in the mix early.

One of the top overall athletes not only in Georgia, but across the South in the 2027 class, Beard is already a major Power Four prospect due to his quickness, natural athleticism, and versatility. He can make plays in the special games and in the return game, but he’s been a dynamic, game-changing running back for the mighty Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines this fall. This productive sophomore has rushed for 1,451 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, finding the endzone on the ground in every game during the regular season. He also brings dependable hands out of the backfield and should see plenty of opportunities to make plays in the first round.

The offers continue to roll in for one of the best young prospects in the Athens area and across the Peach State. Ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in the state according to Prep Redzone, Bears is a dynamic running back/safety with natural athleticism. He brings good size, instincts, and big-play ability to the Prince Avenue Christian offense and is in the middle of having an excellent sophomore season. He reeled in a new offer from Ole Miss over the weekend and it’s easy to see why. He’s rushed for an impressive 764 yards and nine touchdowns this season on offense while making a handful of tackles on defense. He’s a big-time prospect and should continue seeing major offers come his way.

Beard is a 2027 everyone was familiar with coming into camp. He won the Offensive Player of the Game several weeks ago at the Elite Classic and followed that up this weekend as a Top Performer in the RB group. He was a 2 way starter last season at Lincoln Co and was named 1st Team All Region DB. He is making the move to Prince Ave Christian this Fall and they are getting a good one. Measured out Top 10% in the 40 and the shuttle run. Displayed his quickness and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield in 1v1. Physical kid that comes from a football family.

Beard is a name that people everywhere need to get familiar with, if they aren’t already. I was fully expecting him to see him as a running back but was pleasantly surprised to see him playing free safety for the Georgia Future Stars. He told me he has been practicing the varsity starters at safety leading up to the Future Stars event, and it didn’t take long to see why. He was extremely active in the secondary during practice and capped it off with an amazing pick-six for Georgia’s lone touchdown in the 10-7 loss to Florida. Beard already holds offers from Georgia, Arkansas and UAB. He’s a special player that I’m going to leave at running back right now, but a switch to the defensive side of the ball is certainly not out of the question.

Easy game plan for Team GA offensive coordinator in the Future Stars game. Make getting the ball into Beard’s hands a priority. One of the most complete backs coming out in this national 2027 class. You cannot ignore his athleticism, but when you sit back and look at his 5’8 and almost 170lb frame squat 315 pounds and over 200lbs on both bench and power clean, this kid will end up being mentioned as a freak. He has competed at a very high level and walked away with some type of hardware on all stages from in season play, to 7on7, showcases and camps during his middle school career. I look forward to him putting an exclamation mark behind his name before riding off into the sunset to historical power house Lincoln County H.S. Good luck figuring out where he lines up, then trying to limit his production. Beard has a solid frame that can take it the distance whether he gets the ball inside or outside the tackles. He has great vision with elite contact balance that must run in the family (nephew to Bulldog great Garrison Hearst). With soft hands and a comfort level lining up as an inside or outside receiver, Beard is a unique talent that can fit his skill set into any scheme.

The most impressive performance of this camp, and maybe of all was from running back Jerry Andrew Jerry Beard. Beard is the complete package, and simply the best athlete on the field. His 4.65 in the 40 was the second best of anybody this year at Future Stars Camp. But Beard is not just a speed guy, he is a super competitive athlete. He runs excellent routes and hands as a receiver. His change of direction, athleticism and competitiveness make him a candidate as the top athlete in the 2027 class.

The most varsity-ready RB at the PRZ Next SE camp, Beard looks the part of a future national recruit. Has a solid build at 5’8″ and 165 pounds and was clocked at a 4.87 in the forty. Very balanced back that should contribute in high school early.

Another prospect already on the Prep Redzone Next National Watchlist, Beard brings a nice blend of power and receiving game skills. The nephew of former Heisman Trophy finalist, 1st round pick and 10-year NFL vet Garrison Hearst, the apple didn’t fall from the (family) tree. He has a compact build and a naturally low center of gravity. Ran smoothly, with excellent balance, throughout his drills. This will give Beard the ability to run through traffic, allowing him to squeeze through for yardage. I also saw that Beard runs with a good forward lean, this will give him the ability to consistently fall forward on his rushing attempts. He recently announced he’ll be suiting up for the 14-time State Champion, Lincoln County Red Devils, for high school.
