The defending national champion St. John Bosco Braves have publicly announced their schedule for the 2023 season.

Bosco will play teams from Nevada, Florida, Maryland and Hawaii in its preseason before beginning Trinity League play against Santa Margarita.

Here is a breakdown of the Braves' opponents and a brief preview of each game:

8/18 LIBERTY, NEVADA

Bishop Gorman is the most dominant team in Nevada but Liberty is loaded with Power 5 prospects. Washington commit [player_tooltip player_id='942309' first='Landon' last='Bell'] can cause matchup problems for the Braves on both sides of the ball. Linebacker Kahekili Paaoao has seven offers including Arizona, BYU and Washington State. He will be tasked with stopping the Bosco running game that features [player_tooltip player_id='398389' first='Cameron' last='Jones'], [player_tooltip player_id='115464' first='Chauncey' last='Sylvester'] and [player_tooltip player_id='147723' first='Khalil' last='Warren'].

8/26 ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (FLORIDA)

St. Thomas Aquinas is a perennial top program in Florida who has some very famous alumni. This year's squad features [player_tooltip player_id='404085' first='Earl' last='Kulp'] (Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri), [player_tooltip player_id='404138' first='James' last='Madison II'] (Alabama and 30 other offers), [player_tooltip player_id='404177' first='Ryan' last='Mack'] (Alabama, Colorado, Ole Miss and Penn State) and [player_tooltip player_id='404135' first='Nick' last='Rodriguez'] (Arizona, LSU, Ole Miss). St. Thomas Aquinas has two great running backs in [player_tooltip player_id='404267' first='Jordan' last='Lyle'] (Florida and USC) and [player_tooltip player_id='404054' first='Stacy' last='Gage'] (Alabama, Ohio State and USC). This team is one of the few teams that can matchup with Bosco at the skill positions. It will be a real test for Bosco's defense especially top cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='115432' first='Marcelles' last='Williams'] and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='115443' first='Kyngstonn' last='Viliamu-Asa'].

9/1 MIAMI NORLAND (FLORIDA)

The strength of Norland is its defensive line which is loaded with highly-ranked prospects. Edge rushers [player_tooltip player_id='404166' first='Jeremiah' last='Marcelin'] (Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M) [player_tooltip player_id='404275' first='Tycoolhill' last='Luman'] (Arkansas, Auburn, Oklahoma) and [player_tooltip player_id='404489' first='Tyclean' last='Luman'] (Miami, Oklahoma) can rush the passer and interior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='404238' first='Dimitry' last='Nicolas'] (Georgia, Michigan) is a force. This will be a big test for Bosco's offensive line led by [player_tooltip player_id='273573' first='King' last='Large'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282718' first='Matai' last='Jefferson'].

9/8 ST. FRANCES (MARYLAND)

St. Frances came to Bosco a few years ago to play Mater Dei and lost to a Bryce Young led Mater Dei team. Michael Van Buren is one of the higher-ranked quarterbacks Bosco will face this season with offers from Alabama, Michigan and Tennessee among others. The running game is strong too with Dejuan Williams (Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State) and offensive lineman Logan Bennett. Defensively, St. Frances has big names like Ify Obidegwu, Edrees Farooq, Simeon Coleman and Wake Forest commit Darius Jones. It will be interesting to see how Bosco quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='115455' first='Caleb' last='Sanchez'] does against another high-profile quarterback. Sanchez got meaningful snaps against Mater Dei last season when [player_tooltip player_id='25367' first='Pierce' last='Clarkson'] suffered an injury.

9/16 KAHUKU (HAWAII)

This is the easiest game on Bosco's schedule. Kahuku has no class of 2024 players ranked on 247Sports. This could be a crucial "get healthy" game for Bosco after the tough Florida and St. Frances games.

9/29 SANTA MARGARITA

Santa Margarita lost a ton of talent that was ranked highly on Prep Redzone but the Eagles still have some marquee players. [player_tooltip player_id='115420' first='Emmett' last='Mosley'] was First Team All-County by the OC Register and is back at receiver after leading the Trinity League in receptions. Former top Colorado quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='165130' first='Bekkem' last='Kritza'] will start at quarterback for the Eagles who had a prolific passing offense last season. Bosco beat the Eagles 56-14 last season when [player_tooltip player_id='398389' first='Cameron' last='Jones'] ran for three touchdowns and [player_tooltip player_id='115433' first='Peyton' last='Woodyard'] had a big game defensively.

10/6 SERVITE

Servite was a rebuilding team in 2022 and has a new coach this season. The Friars have a really good 2025 class with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='406664' first='Leo' last='Hannan'], receiver [player_tooltip player_id='270921' first='Ethan' last='Naudin'], two-way guy [player_tooltip player_id='208590' first='Brayden' last='Kim'] and running back Quaid Carr. Quinn Rosenkranz is a talented athlete at receiver. The Braves beat Servite 49-3 when they ran for 14 yards per carry and [player_tooltip player_id='115443' first='Kyngstonn' last='Viliamu-Asa'] had 12 tackles and a pick-six.

10/13 MATER DEI

This is obviously the marquee matchup of the season. The teams split the season series last season with Bosco winning when it mattered in the CIF championship game. Mater Dei has elite quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='683642' first='Elijah' last='Brown'] and receivers [player_tooltip player_id='115472' first='Jack' last='Ressler'], [player_tooltip player_id='683685' first='Marcus' last='Brown'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282711' first='Marcus' last='Harris']. The strength of Mater Dei is its offensive line with [player_tooltip player_id='147719' first='DeAndre' last='Carter'], [player_tooltip player_id='147730' first='Brandon' last='Baker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282776' first='Sione' last='Tohi'] among others. The Monarchs have two elite edge rushers in [player_tooltip player_id='282774' first='Nasir' last='Wyatt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='195568' first='Tanner' last='Williams']. Mater Dei's secondary is loaded with [player_tooltip player_id='147715' first='Zabien' last='Brown'], [player_tooltip player_id='282700' first='Daryus' last='Dixson'], [player_tooltip player_id='282734' first='Chuck' last='McDonald III'] and [player_tooltip player_id='115428' first='Khristian' last='Dunbar-Hawkins']. The Monarchs return almost every significant player from last year's team.

10/20 JSERRA

JSerra has a new coach and was the surprise team of the Trinity League last season. The Lions have a great edge rusher in Luke Webb and a good linebacker in [player_tooltip player_id='942928' first='Clarence' last='Chaney']. JSerra added two highly-touted recruits in DB [player_tooltip player_id='282705' first='Madden' last='Faraimo'] (Cathedral Catholic) and QB [player_tooltip player_id='282761' first='Michael' last='Tollefson'] (San Juan Hills). Bosco beat JSerra 31-0 last season. Viliamu-Asa led the defense and [player_tooltip player_id='115469' first='Jordan' last='Lockhart'] had a big game for the Braves. Playing JSerra is always a grind and I expect a similar tough game this season.

10/27 ORANGE LUTHERAN

Orange Lutheran is loaded with young talent, particularly on defense. Jojo Edwards is a great linebacker along with Wallace Filemu. Jireh Moe was All-County and was always in the backfield. [player_tooltip player_id='283686' first='Talanoa' last='Ili'] was the best freshman in the league and Auma Jennings was not far behind. [player_tooltip player_id='282728' first='TJ' last='Lateef'] is the quarterback for the Lancers and they have depth there with [player_tooltip player_id='406660' first='John' last='Gazzaniga'] and [player_tooltip player_id='401215' first='Alex' last='Medyn']. Orange Lutheran has the talent on defense to make this a competitive game, but I don't know if the Lancers will be able to score on Bosco.
