In this article:
Future Stars Game just completed their first camp for Team Georgia at Frederick Douglas High School in Atlanta this weekend. The camp set the tone for what could be a banner year for Team Georgia as there were some big names out to compete for a spot in the Future Stars Game.
The 8th grade camp may have been a little lighter on the numbers, but the talent was phenomenal. Elijah Peeks Elijah Peeks 6’3″ | 275 lbs | DL Cartersville | 2027 State GA , arguably the best defensive lineman in 2027 in the state of Georgia came out and did not disappoint. Peeks checked in at 6’3” and 270 lbs. He demonstrated an amazing first step and power to finish plays alone the defensive line. His size and low center of gravity make him a nightmare matchup with any offensive lineman.
Quinterrius “Moonie” Gipson attended the camp. Gipson checked in at right under 200lbs and you could see why many consider him the top running back in Georgia. Demonstrated very good speed with a 4.9 and a 4.87 in the 40-yard dash for a 200lbs 8th grader. He showed great vision and agility and a genuine desire to compete.
Highlights
Corey Hadley Jr came out to not get outdone or overlooked, and the 5-11 receiver and defensive back did just that, to earning the Camp MVP award. His 4.85 in the 40-yard dash was the fastest on this windy day. He made plays consistently on both sides of the ball, running great routes and showing consistent hands as a receiver.
There were several other standouts in the 8th grade (2027) group
- Stephen Love II probably made the most amazing catches on the day, and showed with his versatility that he would be a matchup nightmare in the slot.
- Wideout Myles George Myles George 5'11" | 165 lbs | ATH Villa Rica | 2027 GA from Carrollton had an excellent camp. George was another big receiver at 5’11” and one of the fastest players at the camp. He showed ability to be elite on both sides of the ball.
- Kalen Noel was consistent on the offensive line, showing evaluators why he is one of the top offensive lineman, and had one of the most memorable performances at the camp.
- Kicker Russell Brock made 11 of 12 field goal attempts inside the 40, only missing one from 35 yards, but making all three of his attempts from 40 yards as an 8th grader.
In the 7th grade group, Christian Williams Christian Williams 6’1″ | 280 lbs | DL North Cobb | 2028 GA from Acworth came out and walked away with the camp MVP for 7th grade. At 5’10” and 270lbs, Williams showed much better short area quickness than one would think. He demonstrated amazing upper body strength and played with very violent hands on the offensive line. He has the potential to be an elite offensive lineman in the future.
Highlights
Kylen Pope Kylen Pope 6’2″ | 200 lbs | DL GA of Cedartown demonstrated versatility to play any number of positions, and play them effectively. With good height and weighing 180 lbs. he has amazing quickness and bend from the defensive end position to be an elite pass rusher. He was athletic enough to be one of the best running backs or receivers at the camp also.
Jake Smith Jake Smith 5’10” | 165 lbs | LB Roswell | 2028 GA of Roswell was a 7th grader that the evaluation team really loved. He was a lunch pale type guy that gives you great route running and ability to create separation making him an excellent slot. But, Smith was also impressive on the defensive side of the ball showing that he could be as effective as an outside linebacker.
