This run is already the best in school history, and they aren’t done yet. Here are some of my takeaways from my first-ever visit to Lumpkin County High School.
- First in-person look at 2025 ATH Cal Faulkner Cal Faulkner 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Lumpkin County | 2025 State GA
Faulkner popped on my radar back in late 2022, flashing some impressive playmaking skills with the ball in his hand and some verticality. Since then, his game has evolved and he has played some QB for the Indians. Navy has offered, but there are several P4 programs in play here.
Spark-Eval:
Faulkner is a fleet-footed 6’2 185 that skates around the field. Faulkner got reps at essentially every skill position at practice, but he will play WR in college. With the ball in his hands, he can float past defenders and make subtle lateral movements to get defenders off-platform. His leaping ability is off the charts, frequently rising above defenders and plucking it at its highest point. Once he adds more twitch and explosiveness, he could develop into a P4 difference-maker in just a few years. Faulkner has 23 MPH GPS speed and is a multi-sport athlete.
2. 2026 Breakout Candidate Nolan Matthews
Nolan Matthews sneaked onto the varsity scene last year, totaling nearly 500 yards receiving on the year. Now, he should get some reps in the backfield and coaches believe he can surpass the 1500 total yard mark on the year. Nolan Matthews is a track athlete as well, flashing blazing speed with a 10.9 in the 100.

Matthews is a sneaky-talented athlete stoked away in the Northeast Georgia mountains. With another productive fall, he could generate some recruiting buzz. Matthews was more productive as a WR during his sophomore year, but he projects as a RB with some utility usage. He is a stocky 5’8 that can move the pile upon contact. He is best in the open field, where he can quickly blast through running lanes thanks to his explosiveness.
3. Dynamic 2025 defender newly on my radar
My favorite part about getting out in the spring is finding some underrecruited prospects that are new names to me. 2025 ATH/DB Trent Mobley is one of those. He is a shorter, stockier prospect, but he possesses an athletic build and is capable of rising up against bigger receivers to play the football. He also flashed a competitive edge during the more physical periods.
4. People-movers on the offensive front…
A lot of people are curious as to how some of these smaller schools can win games. The answer? The big boys up front. The Lumpkin County OL isn’t riddled with future CFB stars, but they are big, burley mountain boys who can move people off the ball when needed and play with an edge. For two years in a row, LCHS has had a prolific rushing attack behind these guys.
