Cannon-McMillan can also not be counted out as a program and they have several College Football prospects. For this article, I am focusing on underrated prospects in this conference. Check it out below.
Highlights
Geno Calgaro Geno Calgaro 5'10" | 210 lbs | LB Canon-McMillan | 2024 State PA Canon-McMillan. Calgaro is a really good instinctive linebacker. He reads and reacts to the ball very well. He can play both inside linebacker and outside linebacker. The other part of his game he does well is his ability to get downfield. He is patient then gets downfield and makes the tackle. He is also a sure tackler who uses angles very well to tackle ball carriers. Finally, Calgaro is an excellent Blitzer. You can blitz him off the edge or inside from his linebacker position. Calgaro with a strong Senior year should have a good chance to play College Football next year.
Anthony Shovlin Anthony Shovlin 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA Pittsburgh Central Catholic. Shovlin played right guard for Pittsburgh Central Catholic this past season and didn’t disappoint. He is very good at the point of attack and is just mauls defensive lineman. He also has very good feet and with those feet, he can move easily by pulling and kicking out defensive ends. Shovlin also is very good at peeling off the defensive tackle and then going block the frontside or backside linebacker depending on the play. Shovlin also has great size and uses it very well. Finally, he is a very good pass blocker and passes off defenders very well. For Shovlin, a big Senior year should enable him to get multiple College Football offers.
Liam Reamer Pittsburgh Central Catholic. Reamer played right tackle for Canon-McMillan last year and he played it very well. 1st he is a massive person and you see it on film. Reamer is 6’5 and you can see it in the film. Next Reamer has a true nasty streak. Nothing bad, but he is very good at hitting defenders and making sure they know that he is there to take over the game. Next Reamer has excellent feet. He can move well against edge defenders and hold his own. Reamer is also very good at engaging a defender then extending his arms and having the ability to block the defenders. Reamer is expected to get Division 1 looks and will have a good chance to play College Football. He recently visited Bowling Green’s Junior Day.
Tanner Fuchs Tanner Fuchs 6'1" | 275 lbs | OL Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA Pittsburgh Central Catholic. Well, I profiled Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s right guard, so let’s profile the left guard as well. Fuchs is a tactician at guard. He has great technique and uses his body well to push defensive players. He has good feet and uses them well to pull. As a lineman having the ability to pull is very important and Fuchs can do that very well. Fuchs also can use leverage well and attack the defensive lineman using that leverage. Fuchs is an underrated player who with a good Senior Year should have a good chance to play College Football.
Tyree Alualu Tyree Alualu 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB North Allegheny | 2024 State PA North Allegheny. Alualu is an elite linebacker who has very good athleticism. His recruiting has been blowing up recently by receiving several Division 1 football offers. Alualu’s biggest strength is how athletic he is. He is a sideline-to-sideline player who can chase down ball carriers very well. Also when he gets ahold of an offensive player he unloads them on a clean tough tackle. Alualu is also very good at dropping in coverage and making plays in the passing game. Finally, he is also a very good blitzer who can blitz downfield and make plays. Alualu is a super intriguing prospect that several Division 1 programs have offered recently.
Payton Wehner Payton Wehner 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA Pittsburgh Central Catholic. Wehner does not have the ideal size you want for a quarterback, but he is a surgeon at quarterback. 1st he reads a defense very well. His pre-snap reads and where he wants to go with the ball are elite. You can tell on film that he has put the work in to be successful. Next, he throws with great anticipation. Several times he threw in tight windows and hit receivers between two defenders. He is a sneaky-good athlete that can be used in zone reads or to scramble for extra yards. He doesn’t have a great arm but makes up for it by throwing for anticipation and into tight windows. Wehner projects as someone who can play College Football, he just needs the right system and a coach to believe in him. I would bank on Wehner making it to the next level.
Aidan Buggey Aidan Buggey 6'0" | 210 lbs | DL North Allegheny | 2024 State PA North Allegheny. Buggey is a good defensive end who flashes with big plays. Buggey uses his hands very well for a defensive end. He always gets his hands on the offensive tackle and then he can rip through the body of the offensive lineman. Buggey doesn’t have an ideal size but makes up for it with a relentless motor that never stops. He can always chase ball carriers and quarterbacks down and make plays. Buggey with a strong Senior year should have a chance to play College Football in the future.
Khiryn Boyd Khiryn Boyd 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB North Allegheny | 2024 State PA North Allegheny. Boyd is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. He is very good as a kick returner, wide receiver, or even a ball carrier. He is the type of player every time he touches the ball the defensive coaches hold their breaths. The one thing that stands out in Boyd’s film is how hard he is to tackle. He is very fast and can run past defenders, but he can also make people miss and run through tacklers. As a wide receiver prospect, he is very good as well since he can go high point the ball well and make people miss on short passes. He is also not afraid to go over the middle and catch the ball. Boyd’s recruiting is just starting to heat up and with a strong Senior Year he should get some College Football offers.
