HUDLSTATS: 88-of-128, 1,683 Yards, 23 TD, 2 INT
Playing on a very talented Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Wehner has been great as a senior for the Vikings. He’s going to make sure that he moves up in our next rankings update. He is mostly a pocket passer but has the ability to be a dual-threat quarterback and shows that routinely thanks to running quite a bit of RPOs for PCC. He has good arm strength, shows good accuracy and throws the ball with anticipation and zip at all levels. He’s someone who has risen up my personal rankings quite a bit and I’m sure he’ll be ranked quite a bit higher in our next update as mentioned above.

PCC did what they wanted against Saint Ignatius, a Cleveland-based program out of Ohio. 47-6 was the final, a game that Payton Wehner Payton Wehner 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Greensburg Central Catholic | 2024 State PA can put on the shelf to look back on in a positive manner. 230+ yards, four total touchdowns, one of which came on the ground. I couldn’t find tape on Wehner at the time of writing, yet I’m excited to open up the tape on this one. I caught some deserved slack for not having Wehner inside my top ten after this past update. I’ll continue to feel that heat so long as Wehner continues to carve up defenses with ease. Would love to see this kid in person.

Wehner received his first D1 FCS offer from the Saint Francis Red Flash this summer. Payton is primarily a pocket QB but is also dangerous enough to cause problems outside of the pocket. Wehner excels at RPOs due to his sharp technical execution of play action. He has arm strength and throws timing routes with good anticipation. The ’24 prospect performed well at the 2Tenths Top 150 Camp, completing multiple passes in small windows, displaying his accuracy. From the pocket, he’s capable of completing passes on all three levels consistently. He displayed proper placement on passes with adequate zip on his throws. Payton will look to lead PCC to a title run in 2023.

Peyton recently received his first D1 offer this week from Saint Francis in the NEC. Peyton has good QB mechanics and the footwork to match. His arm strength was good, and so was the placement on his passes. Wehner was one of several PCC players who performed well at Top 150. Wehner has all the weapons and talent to make a deep run in the playoffs this year.

Both Gee and PCC’s Payton Wehner Payton Wehner 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Greensburg Central Catholic | 2024 State PA have obvious “deficiencies” in terms of height. Let’s get that out of the way early. It should speak wonders of their overall skillsets if the majority of media still keep Gee and Wehner in high regard. Pittsburgh Central Catholic is to the brim with talent at pretty much every position, the depth chart runs deep. Anyone potentially keeping Jy’Aire Walls at bay is certainly a quality passer. I still haven’t had the chance to see this kid throw in person, yet the tape, grades, and production all check out. Multi-sport, 4.5 GPA, the only harp to his name will be his frame.

Payton is a pocket QB, but he is also mobile enough to be dangerous on rollouts. Wehner is good at play action & executing RPOs. He has reasonable arm strength & throws timing routes with good anticipation. The 2024 prospect completed multiple passes in small windows displaying accuracy. From the pocket he’s capable of completing passes on all three levels consistently. His deep balls could use more zip sometimes, but the ball placement is normally good. Payton has been receiving some FBS interest recently.

The quarterback and leader of this loaded offense. You can make the case that PCC will only go as far as Wehner takes them. The kid is every bit talented enough to lead this program to the pinnacle, that isn’t up for debate. Wehner’s recruitment will be discussed another time. Now, all eyes are squarely focused on Wehner orchestrating this offense to the coaching staff’s liking. The ability to execute sets and limit mistakes are areas I’m more concerned with as opposed to when and why coaches at the next level will reach out. Patience will be crucial.
