Vernon Settles Vernon Settles 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Greensburg Central Catholic | 2024 State PA is a playmaker at wide receiver. He is a big play machine that makes plays all over the field. He can be used in the return game, passing game, and used in the run game on reverses. Settles is equally as good at catching the ball in traffic as he is running by defenders. He can also be used in the slot or outside receiver. Settles is a talented player who makes a ton of plays all over the field. Settles should get some offers to play College Football in the future.

• tape shows Settles, a prospect I like at DB, could have easily scored four total touchdowns in this one if not for great effort by opposing DBs. Scored on open posts from the slot position twice, could have scored on a nine route too, as well as an end-around.
• Love to see him broaden his spectrum a bit, proving to important people that he can double as a WR as well as a prominent DB.

Settles has Division One offers from Akron, Duquesne, and Monmouth. He is an athlete who excels on both offense and defense. He’s a deep threat that puts pressure on safeties in the slot. Central Catholic does a good job of getting the ball to him in the slot or on the outside. His ball skills are impressive; watching him catch footballs across the middle and intercepting passes. Settles is versatile on defense, performing well at safety and cornerback in ’22. He has good hips and the height to contest against big receivers. Settles had over 600 receiving yards and 5 interceptions overall last season.

Vernon has an official offer from Akron, but he’s been receiving interest from multiple FBS institutions. Settles is a good route runner that gets in and out of breaks with efficiency.  Settle’s ball skills on both sides of the ball are above average. He has the type of speed to stretch defenses at wideout & has big playmaking ability. On defense, he has good hips & breaks on the football well. His 6’1 frame is also good for contesting 50/50 balls with big WRs. Vernon is one Wehner’s top targets & PCC will need his contributions to knock off North Allegheny.

Settles will more than likely be used on offense again, acting as the second top 50 junior target on this offense. Yet I can’t help but be enamored with Settles’ potential at defensive back. It’s more than likely the position he’ll be recruited at. Some think we have Settles too high, I could care less. The kid should be a potential breakout prospect across the state.
