Expert Analysis
Avery Hawkins | Prep Redzone Scout
Calgaro’s a disruptive player on the gridiron. He plays with textbook effort, mixed with a low pad level. He showcases strength and fluidity, defeating blockers in run pursuit. He’s a sideline-to-sideline player who also excels in one-on-one tackling situations. He runs a 4.6-second forty-yard dash, and his wrestling success would indicate character and toughness. He’s a two-time all-conference player who’s been producing for Canon Mac. Calgaro recently received his first D1 offer from Saint Francis in the NEC. The ’24 LB also has a scholarship offer from Division II Clarion.

Legitimate top 10 linebacker prospect in the state. Maybe some are turned off by his size. Thing is, the young man moves well enough that, if you were worried about his size, he could easily transition to a hybrid DB and play in the box. His GPA is over 4.0, the kid is a phenomenal wrestler to boot. There’s a theme to this piece, many of these prospects check off so many boxes that it often leaves people like myself scratching their heads a bit. Calgaro recently visited Mercer down South. I hope more local programs bring this kid to camp.

is the only linebacker ranked above Calgaro that doesn’t have an offer. We fully expect that to change this offseason. Some of the best linebacker tape I’ve come across regardless of class. He places above the 6’2-3″ freaks because of his incredible play-diagnosis ability. Calgaro reacts to the run as well as anyone in the state. I’m a firm believer that this young man would have all the offers Speca and Lindsey have had he stood at 6’3. The kid controls what he can control, he’s a tone-setting animal manning the middle of the Big Mac defense.

Geno has a A1 motor & pursues the ball from sideline to sideline. He processes plays quickly and moves well laterally tracking RBs. His strength is apparent & he plays bigger than his 205 lbs frame. He has the ability to blitz & make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Geno has been timed at a 4.6 & displays good overall quickness. Calgaro constantly defeats would be blockers with speed on film. He’s presently being recruited by FBS & FCS universities.
