The first batch of 2026 rankings on Prep Redzone Oklahoma were released on Monday with the top 25 freshmen in Oklahoma. Throughout the week, we’ll break down prospects throughout the rankings and even a few others that are currently “Watch List” athletes. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on four prospects that are among some of the most versatile athletes in Oklahoma’s 2026 class. From players who shine on both sides of the ball, to multiple offensive positions to impacting the game in all three phases, we’re breaking down some of the top athletes in the state’s 2026 class.
We start off the list with a potential two-way monster growing down at Lawton Eisenhower. Freshman tight end and defensive end Aiden Monigold Aiden Monigold 6’2″ | ATH Lawton Eisenhower | 2026 State OK is very impressive to watch on film and he’s definitely on the short list for 2026 prospects that we want to see in person as soon as possible. Because based on his film, Monigold looks the part and definitely doesn’t look like a freshman as we’re writing this today. And normally when we have a prospect that plays on both sides of the ball, we normally have a lean to one side or the other. Not with Monigold. At tight end, we can see him growing into a massive threat in the passing game. And as a defensive end, we could see him terrorizing quarterbacks for the next three years. If Monigold continues to grow in terms of height, he will turn into one of the top overall guys in this class.
From a two-way monster to a prospect in southern Oklahoma that impacts all three phases of the game, we go to Durant standout Cole Robbins Cole Robbins 5’11” | 190 lbs | ATH Durant | 2026 State OK , who comes in as the #3 athlete and #21 overall in the recent update. Robbins made plays on offense, defense and special teams as a return specialist for the Lions in 2022. Durant struggled in the win-loss columns but they do have some young talent to be excited about moving forward. One of the strengths in Robbins’ game is his ability to reach a new gear in the blink of an eye with quick bursts. And when you combine his sudden quickness with his vision on the field and how he always seems to anticipate the correct angles, Robbins is a very dangerous player in the open field. While it’s fun to watch Robbins with the ball in his hands, watching him make the right reads on defense is something to keep an eye on as well.
Highlights
Take your pick on what position Vian freshman Masyn Wright Masyn Wright 5’11” | 180 lbs | ATH Vian | 2026 State OK will be at the next level. On one side of the ball, we can see him being the next dynamic Vian running back or moving out and having an impact at wide receiver. On defense, Wright is outstanding as a defensive back that plays close to the line of scrimmage and at the Class 2A level, he can even pass as a linebacker. There is size, speed and unbelievable versatility in Wright’s game and when we talked with Vian coaches back in August, they were very excited about his potential. It’s safe to say that he lived up to it. Wright was one of the most productive freshmen in Oklahoma during the 2022 season. And as we head into 2023 and look ahead to this fall, we anticipate that Wright is going to have a massive role with the Vian offense and his production is going to skyrocket.
Our final prospect is McLoud freshman Zaylun Matlock Zaylun Matlock 5’10” | ATH McLoud | 2026 State OK , who came in as the #4 athlete and the #23 overall prospect. Out of the four versatile prospects on this breakdown, Matlock might be the smallest of the group. He also might be the fastest. Matlock has legitimate burners in the speed department and he has the ability to take the ball to the house every time he touches the ball. The only reason Matlock isn’t higher up in the recent ranking update is being undersized compared to some of the other 2026 prospects. But that shouldn’t slow Matlock down because nothing slows this speed demon down. Matlock still has room to grow both in height and in the weight room. And as long as he keeps that speed that we saw from him during his freshman season, Matlock has the chance to be a real productive weapon for McLoud moving forward.
