The first batch of 2026 rankings on Prep Redzone Oklahoma were released on Monday with the top 25 freshmen in Oklahoma. Throughout the week, we will break down prospects throughout the rankings and even a few others that are currently “Watch List” athletes. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on five prospects that are shining on the offensive side of the ball. A few of these players also play defense but they made the recent ranking update for their abilities on the offensive side of the ball.
We start off this spotlight with our #2 overall prospect and a guy that was really knocking on the door for the top spot in Broken Arrow running back KD Jones KD Jones 6’0″ | 170 lbs | ATH Jenks | 2026 State OK . The Broken Arrow standout was our 2022 Freshman Of The Year after a breakout season for the Tigers where he ran for over 1,000 yards, despite splitting carries with a senior running back. Now that Jones is the marquee back in the Broken Arrow offense, we expect his numbers to explode in 2023. You throw on his tape from 2022 and the first several minutes are just big play after big play. And he’s doing it in a variety of ways too. He’s running between the tackles, getting to the outside, catching passes out of the backfield and even helping in the return game on special teams. Jones recently picked up his first power five offer and that should just be the start of a busy offseason.
The first of three players in southern Oklahoma along highway 70 is Valliant running back Kenny Golston Kenny Golston 6’1″ | 210 lbs | RB Valliant | 2026 State OK . Southern Oklahoma has some special players in this 2026 already and Golston is a running back to keep an eye on moving forward. Based on the film, Golston is an absolute freak athlete. He’s the typical prospect that looks much older and you wouldn’t think that he’s a 2026 prospect based on the eye test alone. He’s not as polished as some of the other offensive standouts but the upside is there and you can’t teach some of the things that Golston has working for him. And while we watched Golston, we also couldn’t help but wonder what he would look like on the defensive side of the ball. Whether it’s at defensive end or moving back to linebacker, Golston would be an absolute wrecking ball on either side.
Highlights
Idabel freshman Mackylan Dixon Mackylan Dixon 5’10” | WR Idabel | 2026 State OK was the only prospect on this list that we were fortunate enough to see live on a Friday night. Dixon showed out as his Warrior team went on the road and knocked Beggs out of the Class 2A playoffs. Dixon was a problem to defend as he was consistently turning small plays into big plays. Everything we saw in person matched up with the film on Dixon. He’s an absolute playmaker with the ball in his hands. His tape isn’t full of 50+ yard touchdowns but he has chunk play after chunk play from a variety of spots on the field. Whether he’s lined up in the backfield or as a wide receiver, Dixon was a big part of the Idabel offense in 2022. And him returning, along with several other young playmakers is a big reason why we like Idabel to be one of the top Class 2A teams in 2023.
Well we touched on Idabel and Valliant and now we hit Hugo along highway 70 with their freshman star Quincy Shelton Quincy Shelton 6’0″ | WR Hugo | 2026 State OK . The Hugo standout is also one of the top basketball prospects to keep an eye on moving forward so there’s no surprise that he earned playing time on both sides of the ball this fall for Hugo’s football team. Shelton began as a wide receiver but eventually was starting on both sides of the ball. Shelton was a very productive wide receiver and that’s why we have him listed there. It feels like his natural position for now but we’re not ruling out him being moved over to defensive back as a prospect. On the basketball court, he’s a lockdown defender so we could see that same skillset used at the cornerback position. Shelton’s hands and ability to catch just about everything thrown near him is what jumped off the page at us.
Our final 2026 standout on the offensive side of the ball is Newcastle running back TJ Bradford TJ Bradford 6’0″ | RB Newcastle | 2026 State OK . The Newcastle product wasn’t used as much as some of the other prospects on this breakdown but the abilities are still there and he certainly showed that when he gets into the game, he can be a physical back that racks up the yards. Just like a few other prospects on this breakdown, Bradford also lined up on the defensive side of the ball and had an impact on that side. But for now, we’re listing him as a running back until further notice. Bradford had a really strong start to his freshman season at the running back position and we want to see more of the Bradford we caught back in September. Newcastle spread the ball around among their running backs but we’re excited about the potential with Bradford moving forward if he gets more of a steady work flow.
