October is here and we have begun updating all of our prospect rankings throughout the website. Two weeks ago, we released our first watch list for the 2026 class. The first rankings for that class will come out in January. Last week, it was all about the 2025 class. We’ve updated those rankings to feature the top 75 sophomores in the state. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. This week, we take a look at some of the top juniors in Oklahoma with an update to the 2024 rankings. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE.
In this post, we’re taking a look at five prospects that have jumped up the rankings in a big way. We break down their games, plus what they’ve done to earn the boost in the rankings. All five are either athletes or defensive backs and they each jumped into the Top 30 in this last update. Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2024 prospect breakdowns. And keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma next week when we release our 2023 prospect rankings.
We still have Muskogee standout Anthony Watson Anthony Watson 6’0″ | 220 lbs | ATH Muskogee | 2024 State OK listed as an athlete but we’re honestly starting to lean more to the defensive side of the ball when it comes to him as a prospect. Watson plays tight end and defensive end for the Roughers and he’s outstanding at both. He has an impact at both. But what he’s doing on the defensive side of the ball has us raising our eyebrows and looking at Watson as a potential game-wrecker at the next level. Watson is racking up the sack numbers this season, while also being a red zone threat on the offensive side of the ball. Muskogee is one of the best stories in 6A-2 football this season and Watson is a big reason why. And the scary thing for the rest of the class is Muskogee’s 2024 and 2025 class is leading the way for the turnaround. Not only are they a contender this year, but they will be for the next few seasons.

Down in southern Oklahoma, another prospect on the rise is Sulphur junior Brytan Gaddy Brytan Gaddy 6’1″ | 165 lbs | DB Sulphur | 2024 State OK . You can also make the argument that he should be listed as an athlete instead of just as a defensive back with how productive he is in all three phases of the game. But regardless of the position, we’re very impressed with Gaddy and his performances not only this fall for the Bulldogs, but during the offseason while running track and playing 7v7 with C4 out of Durant. On the football field, Gaddy has been very impressive as a cornerback and his recruitment is starting to heat up as well. Gaddy jumped up into the Top 25 and we’re looking forward to seeing more of him this offseason, while playing 7v7 and seeing him continue to develop his game. Just like every other prospect on this breakdown, he’s on the rise and definitely worth taking note of moving forward.

Union defensive back Devon Jordan Devon Jordan 6’1″ | DB Union | 2024 State OK has been pretty consistent among the other defensive backs in the class, but he made a big jump as an overall prospect in this recent update. After checking him out during the offseason in 7v7 and various spring drills, plus seeing him in person a few times this fall, it’s clear that Jordan is a cornerback on the rise within the state’s 2024 class. And Union’s secondary is pretty impressive as is. The mix of 2023 and 2024 standouts they have on the backside of their defense is very impressive. But Jordan is following the path that 2023 DB Devin Robinson Devin Robinson 6’2″ | 190 lbs | DB Union | 2023 State OK was on as he’s continued to get better and Robinson is now committed to Tulsa. While they play different positions, we could see the same thing happening for Jordan. It feels like only a matter of if, not when colleges start coming after the Union standout.
This is going to start off a little dramatic but FINALLY! FINALLY we get to see what junior standout Kordell Gouldsby Kordell Gouldsby 5’11” | WR Bixby | 2024 State OK can do with a clean bill of health. While starting for Holland Hall in his first two seasons, Gouldsby had both cut short due to injuries. After moving over to Bixby this season, Gouldsby has turned into arguably Bixby’s top playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. And this is a team that is averaging well over 60 points per game. Gouldsby has been electric at the wide receiver position and has also had a major impact in the return game on special teams. Before Gouldsby showed up, the one thing that was missing from Bixby’s offense was that speed and quickness like we’ve seen from the Presley brothers over the last five years. But with Gouldsby into the fold, and healthy, the Spartans have yet another weapon that is a nightmare to defend in the open field.
We had to move Perkins-Tryon standout Tre Stevenson Tre Stevenson 6’0″ | ATH Perkins-Tryon | 2024 State OK over to athlete in this recent ranking update. Following his sophomore season, we really liked Stevenson at the running back position, but as he continues to grow, we’re starting to see him more on the defensive side of the ball. Don’t get us wrong, he is still an absolute tank on offense and defenses have had some serious problems trying to bring him down in 1 on 1 situations. But Stevenson is also showcasing his abilities as a defensive end coming off the edge. We checked out Stevenson in person earlier this season and in that game, he was more impactful on the offensive side of the ball. But that was just one game and the offense they were facing limited the impact a defensive lineman could truly have. Stevenson is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on as he’s been impactful since his breakout season last year and it’s continued this season.
