Gage Gundy Gage Gundy 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Stillwater | 2023 State OK – JR QB- 6’3” 204lbs
Stillwater’s signal caller had his ups and downs this week with a 21/36-2TD-3INT performance. He also added 12 carries for 73 yards. You can see the potential that he posses while also making some common mistakes from a young QB. Gundy makes plays when they count however. He threw the game winning TD earlier in the season and was able to guide his team to a win in this double OT thriller as well. Take away the hype around his name and he’s still a solid QB with plenty of potential. He’s very poised and it’s evident he’s been around the game his whole life. His team seemed to respond well to his demeanor and his coaches trust in him never waivers even after a few miscues. Look for him to continue to grow as a player and a leader for a Stillwater team that has the ability to make a deep run this fall.
Holden Thompson- SO RB- 5’10 155lbs
Thompson makes up for size with big play ability. Carrying the ball 27 times for 120 yards he found the end zone twice on Friday night. Thompson made plays in several ways that helped the Pioneers gut out the win. Thompson scored both his TDs inside the 5 yard line. Thompson punched in the first TD of the night so it was pretty fitting that he would be the one to score the winning TD in 2OT for Stillwater. Thompson definitely provides a great compliment for Gundy and the passing game. While he absolutely has the talent to bust the big plays, he also can do what he displayed Friday and be the bell cow back to carry the load and help grind out the win. Thompson definitely has Pioneer fans excited for his future and will be a big piece of the puzzle for them moving forward.
JaKobe Sanders JaKobe Sanders 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Stillwater | 2023 State OK – JR OL- 6’2” 309LBS
Sanders was on player I was excited to see on Friday. He’s a big powerful kid in the trenches for the Pioneers. With a bench press of 365, squat at 605, and clean of 305 you can definitely see where the power comes from with Sanders. He is a big part of the front for Stillwater literally and figuratively. His play is nasty in the best way and a very old school type lineman that puts a lot of pressure on the opposing fronts. Sanders is a mauler in every sense of the word and should be a key factor in the future of this team this season and beyond. Look for him to continue paving the way for the Pioneers offensive attack the rest of the season.
Gabe Brown- SR LB- 6’2” 200LBS
The Oklahoma State LB commit is one of the most athletic and powerful LBs in the state. In my opinion he might also be one of the most underrated LBs in the country. Brown can make plays all over the field and is the clear leader for that Stillwater defense. Brown makes a lot of plays for the Pioneers and is sure to be a big playmaker for he Stillwater D when he hits the field. If you want to see what Power 5 college LBs look like against high schoolers then be sure and go to see the Pioneers and Brown. He absolutely plays as the hammer in his collisions and can cover sideline to sideline.
