continues to be one of the more underrated prospects in the state’s 2024 class. For us, Freeman is an outstanding lineman that gets the job done each and every week. He might be considered “undersized” but it hasn’t slowed him down yet. He leads the team in sacks with eight and he has shined bright just about every time we’ve seen the Chargers in person. His older brother Gavin was considered “undersized” and he is now a scholarship wide receiver at Oklahoma after betting on himself.

is one of the best in the state’s 2024 class. He does not have the prototypical size so his recruitment hasn’t been as noteworthy as some others at his position. But throw on the tape, see the kid in person and you see a player that has a major impact on the game. And college coaches learned the hard way with his older brother Gavin that he shouldn’t have been overlooked. While they play a different position, we won’t be surprised to see Zavier proving a lot of people wrong at the next level. Wherever that is.

as a player to watch earlier in the week in our “Scene Setter” preview of this match-up. Freeman was an absolute force up front. He was incredibly productive on the line of scrimmage on the defensive side of the ball and he made a living in the Millwood backfield. Freeman isn’t the biggest defensive lineman but he has the skills to play at the next level. He’s incredibly productive, it doesn’t matter where he lines up, he always finds a way to make plays. It seemed like every other play he was in on the tackle and was a big reason why Millwood’s offense struggled in the first half. We like Freeman’s game and think he is a 2024 DL to watch.

We mentioned earlier how Heritage Hall really likes the depth and overall experience they have returning on both sides of the line of scrimmage. One of the players to keep an eye out for this week and throughout the season is senior

and specifically on the defensive line. Freeman made a massive impact in their win over Millwood last season. He would recover a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown as the Chargers jumped out to an early 14-0 lead. Freeman is a player that we think could be primed for a big year this fall. It seemed like he got better and better from the start of the year to the championship win over Metro Christian.

along the defensive line. Freeman was really impressive when we watched him in person two times last season. The first was in their win over Millwood and the second coming in the state championship game. And following along with Freeman’s offseason, he looks like he’s continued to grow his game in different areas and has the potential to be a breakout star for the Chargers this season. Freeman is the younger brother of former Charger standout Gavin Freeman, who is now at OU, and just like Gavin, Zavier is somewhat underrated as a prospect in the state’s 2024 class. With another big season this fall, that should change moving forward.

One of the more underrated players in this match-up is Heritage Hall junior defensive lineman

. Both teams are led by plenty of seniors but Freeman is one of the better juniors on this team that starts on both sides of the ball. When we look at this match-up, Freeman will be more important on offense as the Chargers attempt to shorten the game, controlling the ball and keeping Metro’s offense off the field. Because while Freeman is a defensive lineman to keep an eye on, Metro gets the ball out so quickly that it will be hard to put pressure on them with the pass rush. So Freeman’s biggest impact will be on offense as the Chargers look to establish the run and put together some lengthy drives that end in points. If they’re able to do that, they’ll be in a good position on Thursday.
