HERITAGE HALL’S TEN PLAYERS TO WATCH
Heritage Hall senior quarterback Andy Bass Andy Bass 6’0″ | 195 lbs | ATH Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK is without a doubt one of the best players in the state. He has the stats, he has the accolades and he also has that clutch gene that should play a major role in Saturday’s game. Bass has some absolutely staggering numbers this season. He’s thrown for just over 3,000 yards and 34 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He’s also run for just over 1,300 yards and 27 touchdowns. And he was a star in their state championship win last season. He’s one of the best players in the state and the only question is whether or not he adds another title to his resume.
Highlights
Bass leads the team in rushing as well but he’s not alone in the Heritage Hall backfield. Junior running back Barrett Travis Barrett Travis 6’1″ | RB Heritage Hall | 2025 State OK has had a strong season and he’s looking to cap it off by eclipsing 1,000 yards on the ground and another state championship. Travis is closing in on the 1,000 yard mark and he also has 15 touchdowns on the ground this season. He’s done an excellent job replacing River Faulkner in the Heritage Hall backfield this season. And that’s no surprise to anyone who caught Travis when he filled in for Faulkner early last season. He’s made a big jump this year.
It seemed foolish not to include junior Cal Welker Cal Welker 6’1″ | 175 lbs | WR Heritage Hall | 2025 OK on this breakdown for “Players To Watch” when you consider his performance last week. In most weeks, Welker is one of the other targets for Bass to throw to and he also has kicking duties with the Chargers. Last week, in their semifinal win over Marlow, Welker was the hero. The defending champs were on the ropes but Welker booted a game-winning field goal to send the Chargers back to the state championship game. It was one of the more clutch moments of last week and we’re fired up to see the encore.
Highlights
Whenever you’re talking about this year’s Heritage Hall team, it’s easy to get wrapped up in their star quarterback or some of the other playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. But don’t overlook the guys up front and one of the key parts of that offensive line, which has paved the way for guys like Bass and Travis has been Charlie Ghaniabadi Charlie Ghaniabadi 6’0″ | DL Heritage Hall | 2024 OK and he’s looking to wrap up his senior season with another state championship. Ghaniabadi is also a defensive lineman to keep an eye on in Saturday night’s game as he was pointed out by the coaches to be an important piece.
Heritage Hall junior standout Hillman Browne Hillman Browne 6’2″ | 225 lbs | ATH Heritage Hall | 2025 OK is going to be a very intriguing prospect moving forward. He’s a game-wrecker on the defensive side of the ball. He’s one of the team’s leaders in sacks this season and he shows no signs of slowing down when he gets into the backfield. He has good size and moves well and no matter where he plays on defense, he can impact the game. Browne and the Heritage Hall defense have a tall task with a Lincoln offense that has a 3,000 yard passer and two 1,000 yard rushers. But they’ll be ready for a fight.
Highlights
Heritage Hall’s senior standout Jack Harris Jack Harris 6’1″ | LB Heritage Hall | 2024 OK is in a very similar boat to Browne. He’s just a very good football player and it seems like it doesn’t matter where the Chargers line him up on the field, he finds a way to make a play, specifically on defense. Harris is fourth on the team in tackles and has been incredibly productive this season. Like we mentioned with Browne, Heritage Hall’s defense is going to be a big key on Saturday considering the offense that they are trying to slow down. They aren’t going to be able to shut Lincoln down but they will try to bend but not break.
It was in the state championship game a year ago that Heritage Hall’s Jerrod Williams Jerrod Williams 5’11” | DB Heritage Hall | 2026 State OK had his breakout moment. Maybe around Heritage Hall it came earlier in the 2022 season but Williams led the team in tackles as they captured a state title. Williams was just a freshman and then he followed that up with an excellent offseason, full of camps and 7v7 tournaments. The one chance we had to see Heritage Hall during the regular season, Williams did an outstanding job covering one of the state’s top wide receivers. It will be fun to see what he does on Saturday.
Heritage Hall senior Jordyn Harris Jordyn Harris 6’1″ | 165 lbs | DB Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK might be the best two-way player in Saturday’s state championship game. He’s one of the top targets in the passing game for Bass, with over 1,000 yards this season. He’s also caught 13 touchdowns but then turns around is one of the team’s best defenders. Harris leads the team in tackles and interceptions. He is excellent in the open field in 1 on 1 tackling situations. And that will come in handy against a Lincoln offense that does a lot of things well. And don’t forget about the impact he can have in special teams as a returner.
Right behind Harris is fellow senior standout Rashaud Smith Rashaud Smith 6’0″ | 175 lbs | WR Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK at the wide receiver position. And while Harris leads the team in receiving yards, it’s Smith that has the lead in receptions and receiving touchdowns this season. Although these two standouts are incredibly close in both categories. Smith has caught 14 touchdowns this season and is a big play waiting to happen in the Heritage Hall offense. While Harris is more productive on defense, don’t overlook what Smith can do on that side of the ball. But he’ll be at his best on Saturday at wide receiver.
Heritage Hall senior offensive and defensive lineman Zavier Freeman Zavier Freeman 6’2″ | DL Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK continues to be one of the more underrated prospects in the state’s 2024 class. For us, Freeman is an outstanding lineman that gets the job done each and every week. He might be considered “undersized” but it hasn’t slowed him down yet. He leads the team in sacks with eight and he has shined bright just about every time we’ve seen the Chargers in person. His older brother Gavin was considered “undersized” and he is now a scholarship wide receiver at Oklahoma after betting on himself.
