Dejesus out of Monsignor Farrell was a part of a stacked defensive end/outside linebacker group that was able to get after the passer. With 9 sacks in the NYCHSFL AAA Dejesus was one of the most dangerous pass rushers in New York. His motor and ability to finish with violence lead to a lot of plays behind the LOS as he also was one of the TFL leaders in the state. Desjesus plays with good hands and has good burst upfield as a pass rusher which will translate to the next level.

One of the many elite pass rusher from Monsignor Farrell. Dejesus is one of the most explosive lineman in the state and he was able make plenty of big plays for the Lions. He had 18 TFL’s and 6 sacks on the season. He has some of the best footwork and agility out of any defensive lineman in this league and he displayed it against high level offensive lineman every single week.

The monster defensive lineman for the Lions has started the season off with a bang. Against Canarsie he had one of his best performances. He had a ton of success in multiple ways. Dejesus utilized his quick get off and his agility to his advantage, but his power is what impressed me. He bull rushed through Canarsie guards and he added a new element of destruction to his game. Moore Catholic isn’t as comfortable at the QB spot like last year, getting pressure in that backfield and forcing quick decisions will be key. Dejesus will also need to be great in run defense as he hopes to avoid letting Mavericks running back RJ Pacheco get to the second level.

One of the top overall players for Monsignor Farrell this upcoming season. At the defensive end spot, his speed and quickness separates himself from most defensive lineman in New York City. He also proved to be an excellent run stopper while playing the edge position. In his first scrimmage this preseason, Dejesus blew by an offensive lineman and caused havoc in the backfield, you can expect a lot of that this year.

This was at least the second time I had the opportunity to watch Dejesus compete live and in living color but yet, each time I see him I feel like I do not get that good of a look because he seems to be a streaking blur. Leveraging his speed-into-power seems to be Dejesus’ signature – and it was more of the same today. He had a twitchy get off that he leveraged with low pad level to drive offensive linemen backwards. Further, the stud defensive end changes direction easier than a Playstation 5 controler’s joystick. Combine that and mix it with pure hustle and pursuit and you have a defensive end that can play either frontside or backside effectively and make tons of plays from either spot.

Watching Dejesus reminded me of a sports car weaving in-and-out of traffic on I-278/the Staten Island Expressway. In other words, Dejesus can simply MOVE. Quickly, nimbly, with power, and also dexterity – Dejesus showed all these traits with just about every single rep he took. It starts with his sudden get off where he gains ground, in a hurry, with each step he takes. Because of how quickly he gets off the snap he is able to generate a tremendous amount of force. Dejesus can cross an opponents’ face as fast as the wind and changes directions/u-turns off the offensive linemen’s heels to pursue without losing stride. He is an impressive edge player due to his explosive athleticism and how he moves nearly as well as a skill.

Yasire Dejesus Yasire Dejesus 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Monsignor Farrell | 2024 State NY has one of the best get-offs of any defensive lineman and his burst off the snap is at an elite level. Dejesus’ elite quickness make him a mainstay in opponents backfield and his ability not only to get lineman with speed but finish ball carriers and quarterbacks consistently and physically showcase is presence throughout a game. Dejesus put together 8 sacks and 12 TFL facing some of the best lineman in New York in the NYCHSFL and is one of the top returning lineman in the entire state. His elite speed and quickness are high level traits and while the athleticism is there, some more pure power would take Dejesus to the next level.

The 6’2 210 pound defensive end was a leader for Monsignor Farrell. He started for his second straight season and improved tremendously. Hisb get off has to be one of the quickest in New York City. He has multiple finesse moves that give offensive lineman trouble. His footwork guides him into the backfield and when he’s there he won’t be missing tackles. Whether it’s sacking the QB, or bringing down a talented RB, Dejesus gets the job done for this Lions defense. It’ll be interesting to see how much weight he puts on into his 6 foot 2 frame as his height and speed is already impressive.
