Expert Analysis
Nick DeMaio | Prep Redzone Scout
Savino is a versatile pass rusher, able to produce on the inside or outside, with a variety of different ways to win. He’s got powerful hands, a good get off, and even flashes a spin move. He’s a powerful, relentless tackler who wraps up consistently. And while he’s amongst the sack leaders in New York, he’s very effective against the run as well. He finishes plays and plays until the whistle, not much more you can ask for from a pass rusher.

Savino was part of a Lions Defense, that dominated the Gaels. Guzman was only sacked twice, but was forced out of the pocket, and faced pressure on multiple occasions.
Savino has excellent footwork, and is fast off the line. I like his motor, and he is a physical pass rusher. The Senior had a good blend of leverage and hands, in his rushing, and made it past the line to disrupt the QB, on multiple occasions.

Savino is a wrecking ball. This EDGE, and DL, group the Lions have this season, might be among the best in the Catholic League.
Hand placement, footwork, and leverage, are what I noticed while watching Savino. His leverage, to bend around linemen, made him an immediate threat throughout the game. Footwork, and hand placement, were smooth, and allowed him to escape blocks.

Savino had a monster performance that doesn’t light up the stat sheet with 100 different categories, but still showcases his excellent performance. The 2026 graduate, had three sacks and five tackles in a win for Monsignor Farrell.

Another fantastic senior for Monsignor Farrell. Savino is looking to build off of a great junior campaign. He has an excellent motor off the defensive line and was causing havoc against some of the top teams in the state. Savino started at defensive end last season; his footwork and strength always gave the opposition trouble as he successfully got into the backfield and made plays.

Savino is shadowed by the success of Palazzola, but still showcases elite talent on film. Standing at 6’0″ 215 pounds, Savino displays a solid build for the EDGE position.
Savino accumulated 3.5 sacks and 3 hurries with 28 tackles this past season. His role should increase this fall and see more playing time and stats to add to his athleticism. Savino is a good block shedder and displays good hands with solid leverage to breakthrough the line and make solid tackles which are another area he excels in.
Savino is an intriguing prospect who has the tools and size needed for the position. With his Senior season approaching, I look forward to watching him impress this fall.
