Earned a Bemidji State offer after the Beavers’ junior day this spring, then racked up offers from Southwest Minnesota State, Minot State, and Black Hills State after his performance in Brookings.

Despite only playing 3 games on defense last season, Buxton’s recruiting stock has exploded, and deservedly so. He’s snagged 4 D2 offers from colleges like Minot State, Black Hills, SMSU, and Bemidji State. I’ve spoken highly about both his upside and his junior tape on both sides of the ball before, and I’m not about to stop now. As a defensive end, Buxton possesses such a great blend of speed and power off the edge that makes him a nightmare to deal with, regardless of the situation. He’s quick enough to bend around slow OTs, and powerful enough to succeed with a bull rush against any number of offensive linemen. The effort he gives while pursuing the ball carrier is very admirable. It doesn’t matter if he’s currently being double-teamed or if there’s a run play going to the opposite side of the field; Buxton will find a way to the ball carrier one way or another. I’m super excited to see what a full senior campaign looks like for Buxton.

A rankings riser as well as a well-built and versatile athlete who currently holds an NSIC offer from Bemidji State, Buxton put up some great tape despite only playing 3 games on defense during his junior season. Touting an explosive first step and some solid bend around the edge, Buxton could have a real future in the trenches at the next level. His straight-line speed is noticeable, and he’s shown that he can make multiple chase-down tackles behind the LOS off read option plays. On offense, Buxton has a ton of utility as a blocker. He fits well into an “H-Back” role, where he can hit a hole and displace defensive linemen and linebackers alike. He drives his feet hard upon contact and can reach block successfully as well. Keep an eye out for Anoka in 2026.
