A DB who has started to garner hype throughout the offseason, Sweet is a talented athlete who has flown massively under the radar, and despite that, has put up some sick junior film. As a DB, Sweet has a bunch of utility both as a tough run defender and also as an athletic man coverage safety. Some of my favorite film comes when he plays in or just outside of the box. Sweet does a great job of playing downhill and is often able to meet ball carriers within a yard or two of the LOS. Some of his tackles are reminiscent of those from a talented wrestler, and if he’s not able to bring the ball carrier down, he sure can blow up the play, still leading to a big-time TFL. The effort he gives while pursuing a ball carrier is both admirable and eye-catching. He currently holds one offer, and I imagine he’s going to continue to stack them over the course of his final season with the Tornados.
Another Anoka standout who was able to put on a show on Sunday was 2027 Maximus Sweet. The safety was all over the field in 2025 making 44 tackles with 2 TFLs, and a sack. On Sunday Max checked in at 5’9″ 175 lbs. He ran a 4.86 40, jumped 34″ in the vertical, ran an unreal 7.03 L-Drill and a 4.37 shuttle to go along with a 9’5″ broad jump. Those change of direction and agility testing numbers, plus his jumps, show an athlete that is quick and powerful in his lower body. If he can build on these numbers then he will turn some heads this summer. Great start to his final high school offseason.
