He was one of the top receivers in Orange County this season with 1,404 yards on 90 receptions with 20 touchdowns.
Benefield had six other offers including BYU, Oregon State and Washington.
He visited Boise State in late October. Benefield is the fifth player from California in Boise State’s 2023 recruiting class.

Crean Lutheran is having its best season in school history and it’s largely due to Benefield transferring in from Santa Margarita.
Benefield caught 10 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in a 29-28 win over Tustin.
He caught the touchdown that put the Saints within one point late in the game. He then threw a pass for the successful 2-point conversion to give Crean Lutheran the win.

Crean Lutheran had one of its first games on its campus in years last week and Benefield gave the home crowd a show.
Benefield caught 9 passes for 146 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-27 win over Laguna Beach.
The 146 yards were a career-high for Benefield and it was the first time he had over 100 yards receiving since transferring from Santa Margarita.
