Walker emerged early last year as a legitimate Division I prospect, and then backed that up with a huge junior season. The versatile safety racked up 70 tackles, picked off a pass, and recovered a fumble. He’s a solid tackler, rarely missing an opportunity to bring a ball carrier down, and that steadiness was key to Clayton’s playoff run.

The coaching staff at Clayton feels quietly confident in Walker, a guy who doesn’t yet have the offers some of his fellow Comet defensive backs possess. He’s a quiet worker and excellent zone safety. He’s likely going to play a lot of cover 1 and cover 3 over the middle of the field this year, where he can read and react to what the quarterback is doing.

People around the Clayton program believe Walker is the next great young defensive back and he’s going to be freed to play in a lot of single-high sets this season. Walker is still growing and has the length and ball skills to have a really successful year as a pass-defender, even if he doesn’t have the interception numbers of some of the other guys on this list.

Ta’Shaun is currently receiving interest from multiple ACC football programs, and he’s a player on the rise. Coming from unranked into our Top 75 is a strong introduction. When you take a look at the film, though, you see why. With 50 tackles and 4 tackles for loss last season, Ta’Shaun shows himself to be a strong open-field tackler. Two other traits that are impressive: the first being his reaction skills. On multiple quick screens, Ta’Shaun instantly reads the play, sprints to the ball, and gets the ball carrier on the ground from his safety position. The second trait is his coverage discipline. Ta’Shaun knows how to pick up receivers crossing into his zone and doesn’t get fooled by “switch” downfield concepts and breaks up passes with excellent technique.
