Keshawn Stancil Keshawn Stancil 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL Clayton | 2027 NC — University of Miami commit — is the perfect blend of nasty and competitiveness in the trenches. He brings an edge every snap and plays with the kind of motor you want from a dominant lineman. In one-on-one situations, he’s almost unblockable — and even when offenses throw two bodies at him, it’s still a battle to slow him down.
Stancil has great size and natural strength, and he knows how to use it. He collapses pockets, resets the line of scrimmage, and forces offenses to game plan around where he lines up. That combination of power, toughness, and competitive fire is exactly why he’s headed to Miami and projects as a difference-maker at the next level.

Stancil just keeps improving in every facet of the game and he’s reshaped his body in the weight room this offseason. Maybe surprisingly, his biggest impact had been as a run-stopper, but he improved his sack numbers, racking up nine last season. It’s not out of the question that he could out up 12-15 this season.

Stancil’s skill set has grown on me in recent months and I really think he can be a unique player at the next level. I don’t think he’s going to put on 20-30 pounds to play at a more prototypical weight, nor do I think he should. He has plenty of power (Nearly 50-foot shot put PR) but he wins just as often with quickness. He has the athleticism to slide outside and play off the edge on occasion and his versatility is a real asset.

Stancil plays everywhere on the defensive line, but his lateral quickness is shocking and I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays more on the edge in college, at least at first. His raw pass-rushing numbers are good, not great, but his potential is elite, as he plays both bigger and faster than his frame would suggest. The physical traits are there and he’s developing his technique quickly.

Stancil is a guy that I really think could be an early contributor for a Power Four team. He has great hands as a pass-rusher and he’s just learning the intricacies of the interior of the line, as he’s added a bunch of weight and moved inside recently. However, he’s athletic enough to slide outside in bigger fronts and beat offensive tackles. He was highly-productive, with nine sacks and 23 tackles for loss as a junior.

Stancil put on a bit of weight this offseason, but still seemed noticeably quicker when I saw him in practice this preseason. Stancil himself would tell you he was probably a bit raw last year, winning primarily with pure athleticism. Clayton has the dilemma (and blessing) of having to figure out whether to play him inside or outside. I personally like him on the interior, but he’s plenty quick enough to play as a 3-4 defensive end. His quick twitch is impressive and we should see his numbers improve this season, even with five sacks and 39 tackles as a sophomore.
