Expert Analysis
Will Helms | Prep Redzone Scout
Hamm took some time to get his feet wet after transferring to Clayton from Wilson Prep, but he was crucial down the stretch, with six tackles for loss and two sacks in the playoffs. His get-off is excellent and he’s a guy who can beat offensive tackles in one-on-one situations.

is an elite athlete and, for long stretches of that game, he was the best player on the defensive side of the ball. He has a great frame and brings a rare blend of speed, length, and physicality that jumps off the tape.
Hamm lines up off the edge but can stand up and play like a linebacker, showing the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways. He sheds blockers with ease, plays with good leverage, and has the range to make plays outside the box. That edge/LB hybrid skill set makes him a tough matchup and a chess piece for any defense.
With his tools and production, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see Hamm pick up his first Power 4 offer this offseason. He’s trending fast and looks like a next-level defender in the making.

Hamm made the move from Wilson Prep to Clayton and has quickly stepped into a leadership role for the Comets’ defense. Still only a junior, he plays with the poise and presence of a veteran, anchoring the middle and setting the standard for his teammates. His physicality and willingness to take on blocks make him a natural fit to lead Clayton’s front seven.
This week, Hamm faces one of the toughest assignments in the state: slowing down Southern Nash’s run-heavy offense. The Firebirds thrive on misdirection and physicality, meaning Hamm’s discipline and ability to read keys will be tested on every snap. To give Clayton the best chance, he’ll need to play mistake-free football, shed blockers, and consistently wrap up in the open field. If Hamm rises to the challenge, his impact could keep the Comets in control against a dangerous ground

A long-time scouting favorite of Prep Redzone, Hamm’s electric sophomore year paid off in the form of an Old Dominion offer in late January. He plays longer than his frame would suggest and has serious explosion off the edge. That showed itself with an incredible 24 sacks in 2024 and we expect him to continue to put up ridiculous numbers as he adds weight over the next few years.

, a 6’1”, 220-pound sophomore at Wilson Preparatory Academy in North Carolina, is rapidly gaining recognition as a top defensive prospect in the class of 2027. His exceptional combination of size, speed, and versatility has made him a standout on both sides of the ball.

Hamm is true definition of an impact player. He has the size and ability to change the game on both sides of the ball but tonight, I feel like his play on the defensive side will be needed the most. If Jordan, only a sophomore, can command a double team all night, it will only make it easier for his linebackers to flow. Whenever they decide to single up Hamm, I expect for him to cause a huge disturbance.

Hamm is one of the best young defensive players in the state, regardless of class and he’s shown it this year, with at least one sack in every game this season. He can win with speed or power and has flashed an array of pass-rushing moves. He’s been used some on offense this year where he’s averaged nearly 30 yards a catch, but as always, it’s his defense that will win him awards.

Jordan had one of the biggest years (stat wise) from a freshman in North Carolina. The dynamic pass rusher had 16 sacks last year! Hamm, now a soph, has 2 sacks on the year with 14 tackles. Hamm also leads the team in receiving yards where he plays TE, a threat to make plays on both sides of the ball. I look for Jordans recruitment to pick up this season tremendously.
