Dixon plays both ways for Central Valley playing Running Back, and Linebacker. His sideline to sideline speed is something that can set him apart at linebacker. He fills gaps without hesitation. I also like his comfortably with covering slot receivers. When put out there he reacts well to what is thrown at him. He tackles with physicality, because he loves the contact. He will be the hammer not the nail when met in the hole.

Mason Dixon is an athlete who’s been producing on both sides of the ball. As a running back, he runs with a mix of power, balance, and speed. On defense, he does a good job of quickly reading run to pass. His athletic ability helps him tackle people in the open field and make plays on the ball when zone-dropping. Mason Dixon is compactly built at 5’10, 200 lbs, runs a 4.6 40-yard dash, and has displayed it on multiple long TD runs so far this season. He’s a sound tackler on inside runs, and he’s a good blitzer that gets pressure on the quarterback. Mason Dixon’s strength can be seen when he’s breaking tackles and punishing defenders on long runs. He’s definitely one of the leaders of Central Valley who has contributed to their 4-1 record this year.

Identified in January as a possible early-offer kid. He’ll have to put in the work this season to stay high on local college boards, I expect he will.

4.0 GPA
Former state champion
Wrestler and track sprinter
First five or so reps show off his instincts at LB, can witness him plugging holes right before they develop, finishes tackles well with proper technique behind him. Limited false steps.
Moves well through traffic, good vision through trash as he sniffs out the BC.
How he develops in the weight room will uncover what his future position is. Will likely play two-ways again this Fall.
Explosion, predicting how his athletic profile will develop, natural feel for the game, high upside when compared to those above.

, another top-tier RB/LB who graded out with an FCS floor. We are giving the same grade to a sophomore out of Central Valley. Although his physique doesn’t stand out in any particular way, I’m interested in seeing how it helps shape his future projection, whether that be at running back or at linebacker. Dixon is emerging as one of the more intriguing two-way players out west, due largely in part to his incredible instincts at such an early point in his career. Looking back through Central Valley’s track record, I had no doubt they could shape this kid into a future star, his junior year will more than likely solidify his name across the state. Premier programs have yet to send Dixon any offers, yet I expect him to test well this off-season. His tape is good enough to garner collegiate interest in its own right.
