Tyler Stevens | Prep Redzone Scout
Mekhi is a promising prospect as a receiver and defensive back. He has an excellent frame. In man coverage, he does well to get good positioning on his receiver and uses his size and athleticism to stick on his man. He does a good job at taking space away and forcing his matchup to play under Mekhi’s circumstances. As a receiver, he’s quick to get off the line. He’s great after the catch. His routes are often short and quick, but he can make simple plays into solid gains for the offense. It’ll be fun to watch Mekhi as he moves into his junior season.

STANDOUT TRAIT ON TAPE: Release approach, Return Skills
Ranked here before his offer from Miami of Ohio. Freshman tape illustrates a prospect who has an advanced understanding of release skills at the LOS, both against off/press coverage. Ahmed eats up cushion in a flash when faced with off coverage. A release with purpose, you can witness Ahmed use his long stride and acceleration skills to quickly get on the toes of his matchup. The quicker you can force action on a DB, the easier it is to manipulate said DB. Great footwork, a mix-up of jabs, mix of lateral tempo, good hand-fighter here too. Ahmed’s hands and production after the fact are all icing on the cake, so are his potential skills at DB. Speaking of potential, Ahmed gets the opportunity to work with the ball in his hands as a return man, both kicks and punts. You don’t normally see the 6’3, long wideout serving these roles, that is until you see his somewhat suprising skills in the open field. Ahmed shows he can read lanes on the fly, he looks a bit more natural with the ball in his hands than you might figure. Expect Ahmed to place well in future ranking updates.

and pulled the trigger on the young man after a visit. Ahmed recently placed three spots outside our 2027 Top50. An FBS program stamping his potential will likely have him beside some of the classes elite moving forward.
Here are Ahmed’s thoughts after the awesome moment.rn
I got the offer at Miami Ohio. I went to their in-house visit on March 10th. I was talking to Head Coach Martin. He asked for my name and said he saw my film. Then he said we would like to offer you. I got heightened and weighted, I was very honored when he said the words and thanked him. I loved the campus. I plan on keeping my connection with him and all the coaching staff by reaching out and going to the camps. They like my ability to get off the line, get open field and my route running abilities.

played outside receiver for Rochester last year. He played well as a receiver and was a consistent player. He caught the ball well in traffic and ran good routes. He shows an ability to get open and then break tackles to gain extra yards. Admed also has good size standing 6’1 inches tall. Ahmed is a good receiver who excels at running good routes and catching the ball in traffic.
