About Santana
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
“I’m a disciplined and competitive defensive back who plays with patience, quick feet, and strong instincts. I take pride in tight coverage, staying low in my stance, and mirroring receivers with good technique. I’m physical at the line, but I also trust my speed and recovery ability to stay on top of routes and challenge every throw.”
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
“I’m coachable, focused, and consistent. I don’t get emotional in reps — I stay calm, process what the receiver is doing, and respond with solid technique. I’m big on preparation, film study, and showing up every day to improve. My mentality is to compete on every rep and never give anyone anything easy.”
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
“I’m involved in school community events and volunteer activities, and I’ve received recognition from teachers for leadership and commitment in the classroom. I maintain solid grades and try to set a positive example for my teammates.”
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
“I’ve developed strong communication and leadership skills as a defensive back. I understand the importance of talking pre-snap, adjusting coverages, and keeping the secondary on the same page. Track has also helped me with speed, discipline, and work ethic. Off the field, I try to be someone my teammates can count on — dependable, positive, and locked in.”
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
“One challenge I’ve faced is pushing through tough competition and learning to trust my technique even against bigger or faster receivers. Instead of backing down, I used it as motivation to improve my footwork, patience, and confidence. It taught me resilience and the importance of mastering the fundamentals.”
What type of college are you looking for?
“I’m looking for a college that values player development, strong academics, and a family-oriented team culture. I want a program where I can grow, contribute early, and earn everything through hard work. Finding coaches who push me to get better on and off the field is important to me.”
