Sits in the zone void patiently. Montoya has good catching, plucking the ball out of the air. After the catch, he fights for extra yards by trucking through defenders or fighting through multiple ones. He is a very good run blocker. He’s got good strength, hand placement and hand strength to lock up defenders and create running lanes. Montoya’s aggressiveness and willingness to block separates himself from other receivers in that aspect. He’s also a good special teamer. Running through blocks and making the tackle. He will be dominated defenses for the defending 4A champions next season.

His precise route running, strong hands, and ability to create separation despite his size make him a resilient and high-potential player. Montoya’s ability to adjust mid-route and find ways to get open demonstrated his advanced understanding of the game. He excelled in contested situations, using his physicality to outwork defenders. Montoya is a polished receiver who continues to refine his craft, making him a top-tier talent. His consistency and resilience ensure he’ll remain a key name to follow.

Montoya is just an all-around athlete that competes at a high level and is a dawg. With his height he creates mismatch problems but has the ability to go up and high point the football, going over top of them at times to get the catch. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty and is a good blocker on the perimeter, getting hands on and giving the ball carrier time to get around him. He has had a strong showing this summer in camps and looks to carry that momentum into the season.
