I fee like I bring him up a lot, but I can only tell you about Stand Out Players, and Big Samu is one of them! Ridge Point, more times then they should have, single blocked Taumanupepe, and each time it back fired. Taumanupepe was instrumental in slowing down a very good rushing attack lead by Ridge point’s Ezell Jolly Ezell Jolly 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Ridge Point | 2023 State TX ! His bull rush is lethal! When he shoots his hands and fires off the ball, he is unblockable. If he even develops a rip move or a spin move, he would be even more of a problem than he his now! A fellow scout and I were watching the game, and I pointed out that Taumanupepe slows down towards the end of the game cause he gets tired. I can’t be mad at that, he’s a nearly 400 pound defensive lineman that plays in a 3 man front. His fellow D-linemen are very competent in their own right, but Taumanupepe regularly sees a double team almost every play! You would slow down too if you had to do the same (there’s a point to this, I promise)! Well during this game, there was a rain/lighting delay. The delay lasted close to an hour. Atascocita had the ball once the delay ended, but on the first play of the defensive series, Taumanupepe came off the ball like the QB stole his money! Us scouts looked at one another and simultaneously said, “…he’s well rested” and laughed. The senior is making it really hard on offenses throughout the playoffs!
