David is a name that’s starting to gain real traction after a strong spring where he showed noticeable growth and impact on both sides of the ball defensively. His energy and consistency stood out, and he began to separate himself as a player trending upward heading into the season.
What stood out most in spring work was his motor and activity level. David played with constant effort from snap to whistle, showing up in multiple phases of the defense whether it was pursuing plays down the line, stepping into gaps, or finishing around the football. He consistently found ways to stay involved, which is a big reason he started “blowing up” during that stretch.
He also showed improved confidence in attacking plays. Instead of reacting late, he began triggering faster, reading plays earlier, and getting downhill with more urgency. That allowed him to make more impact plays in the backfield and become a more disruptive presence overall.
If he carries that spring momentum into the season, David has the chance to turn that breakout energy into consistent production. The tools and effort are clearly trending up, and he’s quickly becoming a player to watch as his role expands. Oklahoma, Tulsa, SMU and more.

David plays with an aggressive mindset and consistently looks to disrupt the backfield. What stands out on film is his get-off — he reacts quickly to the snap and puts immediate pressure on offensive tackles. He understands how to use leverage and angles to attack gaps, making it difficult for blockers to square him up. His hands are active and strong, allowing him to shed blocks and stay in the play.
