About Rontre
Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A speedy returner and wide receiver for one of the state’s best programs, Welch showed last fall that he’s one of the more dynamic returners across the state in the 2028 class. Playing alongside many other Power Four prospects, Welch shined as a sophomore last year thanks to his speed, vision, and big-play ability. As a receiver, Welch was a consistent option in the Carrollton passing game, catching 32 passes for 406 yards and four touchdown catches. As returner on special teams, Welch returned three kicks back for touchdowns, showing he can score anytime he has the ball. He earned several D1-level offers this winter and is bound for an even bigger junior season for the Trojans this fall.
