Expert Analysis
Austin Butler | Prep Redzone Scout
Heading into this year, CJ Cypher has some of the most hype around him and rightfully so. Cypher helped lead his team to the state title game last season and he did that in 6A football as just a freshman. He has the poise, the arm talent, the IQ, the ability to improvise and he checks down each of his receivers before throwing a wide out open unless he is hitting a target to where he already knows where he is going with the ball which is what makes him special so young because he knows when to do it and how to. He is going to certainly elevate his game this fall, and he is going to be one to really watch early on also.

Few young quarterbacks in America have generated as much buzz as

. Already committed to Miami, Cypher enters the season as the unquestioned leader of one of Georgia’s premier programs after an outstanding freshman campaign. He combines advanced football IQ with outstanding accuracy, a smooth throwing motion, and the ability to process defenses well beyond his age. His poise under pressure separates him from most young quarterbacks, and with a loaded roster around him, expectations are simple—lead Carrollton on another deep playoff run while continuing to establish himself as one of the nation’s elite quarterback prospects.

clearly had a terrific year last season helping lead his team to the 6A state title game. Cypher showcased just what he can do from the pocket and even outside the pocket when his number was called to make that extra play, he did just that. Cypher is someone who can stand tall and deliver the ball in an accurate manner to his moving targets, putting them in the best position possible to succeed. This season will be a year you see a much more mature and sharpened tool at the quarterback position. He’s going to really make a ton of noise this fall.

is the best quarterback in the state of Georgia, in my opinion. For a young star like Cypher to lead the team the way he did is something that is only seen in the stars. He is training with all of the best QB coaches in the state, and is even coached by arguably the best quarterback coach in the state. He was asked to deliver in a dominant way, as this was the first season the Trojans had played without Julian Lewis in a long time. He did exactly what he was asked, and more, and now he is set for a game-changing season yet again. Keep an eye on the gunslinger from Carrollton.

had the tall task of replacing Julian Lewis at QB for Carrollton, and through 1 year on varsity, he has done that job brilliantly. Cypher is cut from a similar cloth as Lewis. He is smaller, but an extremely cerebral player with an excellent feel for the game. Everything Cypher does is concise, and he plays with brilliant touch and timing. He is an explosive, snappy athlete who will only add more horsepower to the ball as he develops and gets bigger.

is someone I have covered since his early middle school days. He’s obviously become a household name starting as a freshman and reaching the state championship game in (then) the highest classification in Georgia. Cypher was a big name in middle school but obviously since then he has become an even bigger prospect. He has a great ability to stand in the pocket and deliver the football, he has a ton of poise, and I feel like he will have a monster season this year. The team is completely his, it doesn’t look to be a two-quarterback system of any kind yet so I expect Cypher to really take off in 2026.

and he did it as a freshman helping his team reach the 6A State Championship game. Cypher is a guy I have covered since his middle school days and rightfully so. Cypher has a great ability to deliver the ball to his targets whether it’s contested or not. He has the ability to escape but he is really special at standing tall in the pocket and using his IQ and arm talent. He has great size and as he continues to develop under an amazing coaching staff at Carrollton, watch out.
Recruitment: Christian Cypher just recently received an offer from Ohio State University. He has picked up other offers from Virgina Tech, Wake Forrest, South Carolina, UAB, Florida, Georgia Tech, Georgia, FSU, Miami among others. He is the top ranked quarterback in the 2029 class for us here at Prep Redzone.

The best player in the state of Georgia in the 2029 class, in my opinion. He is one of the names that people will know for many years, and he was phenomenal at one of the hardest positions, if not the hardest position, on the field. Cypher has one of the more consistent arms in the state and is one of the better game managers in the state. He has been able to do a great job in a system that was left behind by Julian Lewis, and he didn’t skip a beat. He will be an NFL starter one day without a doubt.

is about as elite as someone can be at the quarterback position within his age. Cypher is fresh off a season that is unforgettable, as he led the Carrollton Trojans to the state/national championship, which they ultimately fell short, but only slightly. Cypher has plenty of talented players around him, but in this go-around, it will be all him. He is a talented prospect with a heck of an arm. I think he will prove that he is the best 2029 prospect in the country.

is a quarterback that I have covered since his middle school days, so you kind of had that idea of how good he was and was going to be as he continued to develop. Well, he’s still developing and that says a lot based off of what he was able to do in his first year at the high school level, helping lead his team to a 6A state championship game in the state of Georgia. It’s no easy feat to be able to accomplish those things but with his God-given ability and great coaching staff that he has the privilege to lean into and learn from along with the tremendous talent in Trojan Nation, Cypher will continue to develop at a high level and do not be surprised to see him put up really big numbers and create major impact around his team in 2026.
