15th prephoops.com Podany has an effortless throwing motion. He never looks like he is throwing the ball hard, but plenty of power is behind his throws. He moves as well in the pocket as any quarterback in the state. His mobility is a way to buy more time to make an off-scheduled throw and is a weapon in the running game. In the open field, the junior has good speed and the quickness to make defenders miss. His abilities to throw the deep ball and throw with power off his back foot will get all the notice, but I liked the touch he puts on throws underneath. He often hits crossing routes that require him to feather the ball over a linebacker but under a defensive back. He must have some juice on the ball, too, because the throw has to get there before the defensive back closes in to make a play. He has that same touch when throwing fade routes into the end zone. He is averaging nearly 19 points per game on the basketball court with eight boards.
2194 yards 20 touchdowns 11 interceptionsrnPodany is a true dual-threat quarterback. He came out of the gates smoking last season, racking up over 500 yards and seven touchdowns in the first two weeks. He moves well in the pocket on designed rollouts and when he has to improvise. His arm strength allows him to make throws off his back foot when getting hit. He is unafraid to tuck the ball away and get what he can with his legs. Podany throws a very catchable deep ball. He also has the confidence to match his arm strength – a combination that allows him to throw the ball into tight windows.
Podany has the ideal size for a quarterback, giving him a commanding presence in the backfield. His solid athleticism allows him to move effectively within the pocket, showcasing great escapability and making him a dynamic playmaker. Podany excels in improvisation, demonstrating a remarkable ability to make split-second decisions when plays break down. Notably, he maintains composure under pressure and is calm when facing a heavy pass rush. His good arm strength allows him to throw accurately to all field levels, even to the opposite side of the field. Podany’s pocket presence is a key asset, as he navigates traffic, steps up when needed, and consistently delivers accurate throws. A standout quality is his ability to throw accurately on the run or when defenders are draped all over him, showcasing physical and mental toughness. Overall, Podany’s well-rounded skill set positions him as a promising quarterback with the potential to be a dynamic asset.
Coming in as QB4 and at #47 overall in the latest PRzMN 2025 rankings update, Anoka’s sophomore gunslinger Peyton Podany is a member of a stacked 2025 crop of Tornadoes and is my pick for the ’25 QB with the biggest chance to climb up the rankings and improve his stock. The 6’3, 175 lber. is also an impressive hooper, and through his limited game-to-game film you can get a sense of his clean and crisp mechanics that include a quick, high release that snaps out of his hand efficiently and smoothly. He led the sophomore class in most passing statistical categories and went 143 for 260 (55%) for 1,670 yards and 16 TDs to 9 INTs, and I also like his mobility and scrambling ability, plus his toughness when hanging in the pocket through a big hit. Throws a solid deep ball and is certain to better his stats, efficiency, and security with the ball in 2023. Strong athlete at the position, arm talent, clean mechanics, and more, the future is bright for both Podany and Anoka.
