He comes in at #23 overall in the latest update and in our opinion, he’s the top traditional cornerback in the state’s 2026 class. Smith is still available and the thing that has always stood out to us with his game is the performances against the top competition. With Smith taking care of one side of the field, it has really helped Union’s defense over the last few seasons. It hasn’t mattered who the opponent was or which wide receiver he was going against, Smith has always risen to the occasion. We’re looking forward to seeing what he’s able to do at the next level because there is no doubt that he should be at the next level.

It doesn’t matter if it’s in a camp setting, a 7v7 tournament or on a Friday night in the fall, Smith has become a lockdown corner and has solidified himself as one of the top prospects in the state’s 2026 class. As he heads into his senior season this fall, Smith is one of the top available prospects in that class. He’s looking to build off last season’s All State season and leave no doubt that he’s one of the best cornerbacks in the state. He has all the tools and abilities to completely terrorize one side of the field. He’s a true gamechanger at the position.

Union cornerback Oliver Smith Oliver Smith 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB/WR Union | 2026 State OK is one of our favorite lockdown corners in this class and he should honestly get more credit than he does from a pure prospect standpoint. We’ve watched Smith in person during the season, in various 7v7 tournaments, in camp settings and on film. Simply put, he rarely gets beat. With the cornerback position, you have to have a player that can play with extreme confidence and Smith certainly has it. We’re looking forward to seeing what Smith does this season as he’s apart of a very talented Union secondary. This offseason, Smith’s recruitment started to take off and it makes sense when you consider that his junior film started making the rounds. When we did this ranking update, he was a prospect that was a no brainer when it came to getting a significant jump up. He’s solidified himself as one of the top corners in the state.

Smith is a 2026 prospect that six months ago, that was a great time to buy stock in him because you could see the signs that a breakout season was coming and it certainly happened. Smith plays the cornerback position with a confidence level that you need to play corner but he also has an energy level that never seems to drop. He brings the fight every single play and he was one of our favorite defensive backs to watch in person last season and he’s starting to get noticed by colleges.

Whether it was in 7v7 tournaments back in the spring, team camp in May or in the regular season this fall, Smith has always found a way to make an impact and a way to stand out on the field. We think that he has the potential to be one of the better true cover cornerbacks in the state’s 2026 class and this is a DB class that is absolutely loaded. But in this ranking update, Smith is the highest ranking newcomer and his stock is definitely pointing up. We have a feeling that it could be a very busy offseason ahead for Smith the more his junior film makes the rounds with coaches at the next level.
