Expert Analysis
Will Helms | Prep Redzone Scout
Summers was surrounded by high Division 1 talent on his 4A State Champion Grimsley offense, and yet, he was the go-to guy. He has some of the best patience and vision you’ll ever see from a high school running back. Though he’s undersized, he runs with excellent power and contact balance. If he were a bit bigger, he’d be a sure FBS prospect. At his size, he can still be a great pickup for an FCS school.

Mitchell was named the 4a West Offensive Player of the Game in really just 1 half of the game. Summers didn’t play much in the second half due to a lower leg injury, but he scored his two touchdowns in the 1st and 2nd quarters. The back had 149 yards on 26 carries with his 2 scores. He finished the season with 49 total touchdowns with almost 2400 yards rushing.

Having seen Mitchell up close at showcases before, his height doesn’t even matter to me in terms of his evaluation. Summers shows elite skills with his speed, change of direction, vision, and hands catching the ball out of the backfield. Summers can be one of those special guys on the next level that colleges put on special teams, in the slot on offense, and in the backfield as well. Summers has offers from Pembroke and Catawba currently, and I’m sure other similar schools of their size are not far behind for his services.
