, Millbrook’s leading receiver, is electric with the ball in his hands. The senior is a special talent—I remember covering him at a 7v7 tournament in Greensboro last spring where he was the most outstanding player on the field. If the Wildcats pull off the upset Thursday night, expect Gilchrist to have his fingerprints all over it.

Gilchrist solidified himself as the top receiver on a team with plenty of talented wideouts, and the increased opportunities have propelled him up the rankings. He’s a strong route-runner with yards after the catch ability who can also contribute on special teams. That combination makes him an excellent college prospect.

Gilchrist does a ton of things really well for Millbrook in that he’s not limited to one or two ways to beat defenses. He’s an excellent route-runner, one of the best in the state in that regard, and has great ball skills for his size. But while he’s at his best going down the field, he flashed on screens and gadget plays, racking up plenty of yards after the catch as well.

‘s performance at the I-40 Classic was nothing short of stellar, earning him the title of MVP. The Millbrook High School standout, who also plays for the Carolina Express, showcased his impressive versatility by contributing on both sides of the ball throughout the tournament.
As a wide receiver, Gilchrist was a consistent threat, making key plays in every game, including scoring the first touchdown in the championship match. His ability to stretch the field and create big plays was evident, as he proved to be a reliable target in critical moments.
On defense, Gilchrist was equally impactful. Taking on the role of a middle linebacker/robber, he demonstrated exceptional anticipation and awareness. His playmaking ability was on full display as he racked up multiple interceptions and made key pass breakups in every game, helping to stifle opposing offenses and keep his team in control.
It was Gilchrist’s all-around contribution—combining his offensive explosiveness and defensive playmaking—that truly set him apart and made him the driving force behind his team’s success. His impact on both sides of the ball, especially in the bracket play leading up to the championship, was invaluable, ultimately earning him the well-deserved MVP honor.

Operating primarily out of the slot, Gilchrist was a safety blanket for Millbrook last year. He has an advanced feel for defenses to know he doesn’t have to always run at full speed as a route-runner and he excels at finding the soft spot in coverage. His film is really good from last season and we’re looking for him to put up some even bigger numbers as a junior.
