I was happy that Coach Laymarr Marshall mentioned Adams as a guy flying under the radar, because I agree. While his size at one point may have limited his athletic upside, he’s grown in the last year, moving from nickel to Mike linebacker. We love his instincts, and there aren’t many people with his production at the 8A level.

Adams flies under the radar a bit on a defense that features multiple future Power Four prospects. He’s undersized, but he’s an elite pass defender, finishing with six interceptions last season. He’s fearless against the run and comfortable in space, giving him some upside as either a future box safety or as an outside linebacker who can stay on the field against three-receiver sets.

Adams sometimes gets overshadowed as the undersized linebacker on a defense full of Power Four talent, but he’s an elite hybrid backer. I say hybrid not in the sense that he lines up at safety, but in that he brings that skill set, with six interceptions in an All-Conference season. He’s one of the more unique linebackers in the state, and a guy we love to watch play.

Adams took a massive step forward while playing with a bunch of talented players on one of the best teams in 8A. He plays decisively and gets to the spot in a hurry, resulting in plenty of tackles for loss and a few sacks. Adams will look to add a bit more weight this offseason, but he has great play strength and we’re impressed with his movement skills.
