Cypher is one of the top two or three linebackers in the entire state, and the Ohio State commit is ready for another huge season for Millbrook. Last season, he picked off four passes, was one of the top tacklers in the state, and added 5.5 sacks, mostly as a blitzer. He’s a true do-it-all linebacker with no discernible weaknesses in his game.

Cypher is easy to spot on the defense, thanks not only to the hair but also to his ability to make splash plays. The Ohio State commit is one of the best coverage linebackers in the state, with nine career interceptions and 16 career pass breakups. While he can flex outside the box and cover players in the slot, he’s at his best patrolling the middle of the field.

Ohio State commit Quinton Cypher Quinton Cypher 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Millbrook | 2027 State NC showed exactly why he’s regarded as one of the top athletes in the country. The junior was everywhere on Friday night, using his rare blend of size and elite, elite speed to take over defensively. Cypher filled the stat sheet with multiple tackles, tackles for loss, and even came down with an interception, making impact plays at every level of the field. Whether he was flying downhill against the run or dropping into coverage, his range and instincts stood out. A true game-wrecker who looked every bit like a future Buckeye star.

Quinton Cypher Quinton Cypher 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Millbrook | 2027 State NC is one of the most athletic linebackers in the entire state—maybe the country. There’s nothing the Millbrook junior can’t do: run, jump, tackle, cover, hit. In another system he could line up at multiple positions, but at linebacker he’s a national-level prospect. He proved it again last week with a huge interception that swung momentum in the Wildcats’ favor.

Cypher is a heat-seeking missile in the running game, as he gets downhill as fast as anybody you’ll see. He’s decisive and doesn’t hesitate, moving at full-speed once he makes a decision. As a sophomore, he flashed in coverage as well, with eight pass deflections and three picks. It shouldn’t surprise people that he has so many sacks to his name either, and most aren’t even on blitzes. He can get moving so quickly that if a quarterback breaks contain or he’s acting as a spy, he can fire off his line and make the stop.
