The Jump: 17 Spots
Liam is currently the highest ranked player committed to a D2 program. Winona State has such a good one on the way in 2025. Excellent length, explosive power off the line, experienced and successful hand fighting technique. Liam is such a gifted pass rusher, and I won’t be surprised if he is able to see the field early in obvious passing downs. The senior isn’t just a finesse edge defender, though. He has proven he can hold his ground against the run game. Liam can take on blocks and win with leverage, forcing the ball back inside to his help from the defenses pursuit. The tools are there, and Liam has put in a lot of work on them already. Pumped to watch him develop further and play at the collegiate level.

This was one of the easier choices while building this perfect DL prospect. He needs to be able to pass rush like

. Not only because of the massive production that Liam had (leading the state in sacks), but because of the versatility in how he attacks. Liam has strong hands to club or swipe aside the hands of OL. He has the speed to run the loop. He has a strong, quick rip move to get through his man. The power is also there to run through blockers either on a bull rush or after getting himself the angle or leverage advantage with his initial hand fighting move. Liam is a relentless pass rusher, and it is exactly what we want as a part of our perfect DL build.

Liam never disappoints. Watch him on tape, watch him in person. Read the stat line. Any way you look at it, Liam is one of the best defenders and overall athletes in WI. He has the frame you look for at DE, the production you want to see, and the traits needed to be an impact at the next level. The senior has one of the best first steps off the line and a special ability to dip or bend underneath OTs on his way into the backfield. That athleticism also gives him the range to chase down the ball in the backfield. Liam also pairs power with those elite athletic traits. Power that allows him to rip through blocks after quickly getting himself in position to take the leverage advantage. Liam has so much to offer the next level. Give the stud a look!

and he affirmed that believe with his play on the field. Liam has built an outstanding frame. He has the length you love on the DL to create separation and it looks like he can carry plenty more weight on his 245+ lbs frame. Liam won reps in a variety of ways too. He was able to win with his explosive first step that got him through the gap before an OL to cut him off. We saw him drive his man into the backfield and create havoc before making the tackle. Liam also did a great job of on the backside of plays, collapsing down to make tackles on RBs trying to cut back. Shaw is an impressive prospect who still has his best football ahead of him.

One of the state’s top DL is still on the open market. The 6’5″ 245-250 lbs DE holds 4 offers from the D2 level currently, and could add to that list as we get into the season. If Liam can build on what he did as a junior then we are in for a show. Liam is developing a very well balanced skill set on the edge. He can burst off the line with quickness, show good bend or use his hands to defeat blocks on the way to the QB. Shaw also has excellent body control to be able to run sharp loops to the QB. Liam also makes the effort plays, whether that is fighting off blocks or chasing down plays. He clearly has a high motor. His quickness off the line led to a lot of TFLs vs the run in 2023. Liam is a mismatch in the trenches that is going to continue to turn heads this fall.

It was great to get the Muskego DL recruit in the rankings to see where he stacked up with his peers. I have become a big fan of his talent and potential over recent months, so it was no surprise to see him come in as a Top 5 DL prospect. He checks the box for length and size. He carries the 245 lbs on his 6’4″ frame so easily with room to add more. Against the run Liam shows the ability to be a future three down DE with his surprising power to stand up OTs/TEs, hold the line, disengage, and make the tackle near the line. As a pass rusher we see the length show up as he plays with his hands, then either uses a pass rush move or lateral agility to quickly beat the block on his way to the QB. Check out the film below.

. The 6’4″ 230 lbs DE has excellent length and a frame with tons of potential to pack on more strength. Liam finished 2023 with 9 sacks and 13 TFLs, proving that he is able to consistently beat blocks and get penetration. The first step burst, hand use, lateral agility, and raw power have made Shaw a nightmare to keep an OL in front of. He can bull rush his man into the lap of the QB. His hands are able to swat away OL hands, and from there he can quickly slip past the hips of his opponent. Liam can also win with pure speed rushing around the loop. Liam has the tools, the traits, and the motor to be a quality DE at the next level. Make sure this kid is on your boards.

. Liam has an impressive skill set that should be even more dominant this fall. His blend of power and speed/quickness is special. Liam can bull rush an OL into the lap of the QB. Then he can flash quick hands and burst around the OL. The junior has good balance to be able to change direction or play with leverage. Liam is a talented DL to know.
