is a rising quarterback talent with a well-rounded skill set and natural playmaking instincts. Now at DeMatha Catholic (MD) after transferring from Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic (PA), Gatling has begun to turn heads with flashes of arm strength, poise under pressure, and athletic mobility.
On his DeMatha tape, Gatling shows the ability to deliver timely, accurate throws, especially in the short and intermediate game. On his Bonner tape he shows deep-ball touch and composure when the pocket collapses. He shows the ability to extend plays with his legs, whether it’s rolling out to hit targets in stride or scrambling for first downs and touchdowns.
Gatling’s tools suggest he’s just scratching the surface. With increased reps in a nationally respected program like DeMatha, his stock could rise quickly heading into his upperclassman years.

had a strong Freshman year for Monsignor Bonner. He can do it all at the quarterback position. He is equally as good inside the pocket as well as outside the pocket. Inside the pocket, he throws a beautiful deep ball. He puts the perfect amount of touch on the ball. Outside the pocket, he thrives when the play breaks down and scrambles around. Gatling is a good prospect at the quarterback position.
Off-Season Update: Not much on his Twitter for his off-season work. I am excited to see how his sophomore season goes, because of how talented a player he is.

, among other Bonner weapons I might add. Solid build, his poise in the pocket amplifies any potential deficiencies in terms of footwork/height. His abilities in the pocket stand out first. Gatling trusts his reads, trusts his footwork, works a real dropback even if he has potential threats/penetration in his face. Good pacing in dropback that matches the breaks of his weapons. Head and eyes downfield, has no problem climbing a pocket and delivering accurate strikes. You don’t see happy feet, you don’t see helmet-bobble, there’s a calmness Gatling brings to the table, it stands out on tape. Gatling also shows off a replicable release, consistent on tape. Consistent mechs lead to accurate and confident passing, once you’ve witnessed Gatling’s release the first time, it’s likely you’ve seen him replicate said follow-through throughout his tape. Excited to see him develop.

had an impressive Freshman year. He can make all the throws in the pocket. He throws a tremendous deep ball where he puts a ton of air on the ball. He has good mechanics throwing the ball as well. Gatling is also a good athlete who shows good ability to run the ball. He can be used in the designed run game, or when the play breaks down to scramble around and make a play. Gatling is a talented player and skys the limit for him.

. The calmest quarterback in the pocket. Works in a shotgun set, receives the snap, gives a clean dropback, makes the correct read as quickly as possible, delivers an accurate ball. This all might seem rudimentary, yet remember we are talking about a kid who hasn’t played HS ball yet. Obviously, things won’t come this easy, especially working in the PCL. Yet Gatling’s promising 8th-grade tape has us thinking he might be further along than some upperclassmen. Gatling didn’t always work in shotgun sets last season either, you can see him in I’s working a real drop back. It’s no wonder as to why his footwork is a bit ahead of the rest of the pack. The kid works the pocket so well, he can feel pressure and step slightly into the pocket when necessary. Gatling can hitch and release if someone is bearing down on him. He can score from 550+ yards out with his legs and feet at the MS level. Excited to see this kid in person.
