Maiava is violent with his hands as a run blocker and has an excellent motor. He does a great job of getting to the second level smoothly keeping his hips between the defender and the ball carrier.

He played some tackle for Santa Margarita last year but is an interior lineman at the college level. His ability to secure the first level and quickly bounce to the linebackers will translate to the college level.

Maiava is committed to SMU.

Santa Margarita class of 2025 offensive lineman Jacob Maiava Jacob Maiava 6'1" | 270 lbs | OL Crean Lutheran | 2025 CA announced his commitment to SMU last Wednesday.

Maiava also had offers from NC State and UNLV.

He earned All-Trinity League honors last season and was honorable mention on the Prep Redzone All-Southern California Junior Team.

Maiava is the second player from California in SMU’s 2025 recruiting class, joining Hill.

Jacob Maiava Jacob Maiava 6'1" | 270 lbs | OL Crean Lutheran | 2025 CA quietly had a solid year playing varsity for Liberty High School last fall. Jacob has been invited to a couple different showcases but I am surprised he has not received more attention from schools in the region. Don’t be surprised when Jacob’s production this fall leads him to be one of the fastest rising 2025 OL prospects.

In pass protection, Jacob shows good football IQ and a solid anchor stoning blitzers that come in his vicinity. A good combination of quickness and power shows exploding off the ball and removing defensive linemen from the point of attack. Good speed, athleticism, and strength show knocking out defenders as a puller in the open field; Jacob’s good combination of tools and experience across the line give him OL versatility at the next level.
