has continued to make an impact in the playoffs, thriving in his new role on the defensive line. After competing for the quarterback spot in the offseason, Byrer seamlessly transitioned to defensive end and has been a key contributor for the Hawks in high-stakes games. His versatility, work ethic, and physical tools make him a potential standout at the EDGE position at the next level, and he’s showing that adaptability can translate into big-time playoff performances.

. He’s been a very unselfish player for the Hawks during his career and has played all over the field where they’ve needed him. Byrer was in a QB competition this summer and is now playing a new position at defensive end for the Hawks in his senior year. He very easily could’ve shut it down after not becoming the starting quarterback, but Byrer has found a new home and role on the team and could potentially excel as an EDGE player in college with continued development.

is in the mix to be the starting quarterback for the Hawks this season and will likely see a lot of reps there regardless of how the race shakes out. We like Byrer as a TE or LB prospect at the next level, but after seeing him in person this summer, he could earn some opportunities at quarterback as well. Byrer has a large frame and is a quality athlete, which will give him options for what position he plays in college.

earlier this month at the Winter Showcase and were impressed again by his performance at the Fairmont State Elite Camp. He’s a physically impressive athlete who immediately catches your eye when you see him in person. I think he does have some upside as a quarterback at the next level if a program is patient in developing him, but he also has a bright future as a TE/H-Back or linebacker on defense. Byrer does possess arm talent as one of the better passers among the small quarterback group today, which may intrigue some D2 programs.

. Byrer ranks as a LB prospect right now, and seeing him in person, he’s built like one but has arm talent as well that shouldn’t be overlooked either. He got banged up last season and is flying under the radar for now, but is definitely a name that D2 programs around the state should look at closely this upcoming season at a variety of positions. Byrer threw the ball well during the Spring Showcase and has athletic upside, making him a versatile prospect for colleges.

as a LB although most of his film is at quarterback. He did some good things behind center for the Hawks as one of three players who saw time there last season but is likely best suited for linebacker at the next level. Injuries also played a factor last season, but Byrer has the size and athleticism to develop into a very good linebacker prospect in time. At 6’3 205, Byrer has the ideal size for the position and even played with his hand in the dirt at times this season with EDGE potential as well. You can tell he’s a quality athlete from his running highlights at quarterback, especially when fully healthy which will bode well for his LB upside.
