Better known by many for his success on the wrestling mat, Maisel earned meaningful varsity snaps as a sophomore and is in line to make an impact in the secondary while also serving as the Hawks’ backup quarterback. He may not be the biggest player on the field, but he competes with plenty of toughness and isn’t afraid to play a physical brand of football. That competitive mindset should make him a valuable part of University’s defense throughout the season.

He saw a lot of reps at quarterback on the Hawks’ freshman team last season, but receiver or safety is likely his best position as a prospect. Maisel is a versatile athlete who has the physical tools to make a difference on the varsity team in some capacity in the future. He’ll have to wait his turn behind a loaded upperclassmen skill group, but Maisel will be a name to know down the road on the football field.

Maisel doubles as a high-level wrestler where he ranks as one of the best in the state in his weight class. He played quarterback, receiver, and defensive back for the Hawks’ younger team this season doing some good things at all three positions. Maisel’s versatility to change positions mid-game was impressive to see on film without missing a beat and speaks to his athleticism. Ultimately, wrestling may be what his future is as a college prospect, but Maisel’s play on the football field shouldn’t be overlooked either.
