Uiagalelei had 43 tackles, 10 for a loss, 6.5 sacks and three pass deflections for Damien last season and has since transferred to Orange Lutheran.

He played through a torn labrum last season and has good lateral quickness for a guy his size. Uiagalelei diagnoses plays quickly and is strong against offensive linemen at the point of attack. He can play inside or outside linebacker but I like him better on the inside. Idaho offered him recently.

I went into Sunday thinking that Uiagalelei is a downhill type linebacker who rushes the passer well and excels more when the pads come on. He impressed me with his lateral quickness Sunday and was able to hang with most the running backs in pass coverage.

Uiagalelei had 26 tackles with two sacks as a sophomore for Damien last season.

UCLA and Sacramento State are the first schools to offer Uiagalelei since the season ended but he had major offers from BYU and Utah among others last offseason.

Uiagalelei moved up into the #3 LB in the state. At 6’0” 220 lbs. he’s got a strong and well-built frame that helps him shed blockers and explode through contact. He’s downhill defender that possesses a quick trigger and fills aggressively to the ball. High football IQ with good key and play diagnoses skills to read and react to run/pass. Excels as an edge rusher where he can use his athleticism and short area quickness to collapse the pocket and get to the QB. Recruiting stock is on the rise with six D1 offers to date.
