Ploog is a very intriguing prospect and part of a loaded 2027 tight end group across the state. He has a massive frame, strong hands downfield and is a fluid mover for his size with a knack for getting open and boxing out smaller defenders. He has the frame to pack on another 20+ pounds in college and passes the eye test as a Junior and should demand plenty more FBS attention.

What he does well: Hudl lists you as TE/LS with a solid frame for the position; functional blocking and receiving in high school schemes. Athletic background suggests good hands and length for high-pointing balls.

What he needs to work on: Needs verification through camps. Limited content means in-line dominance or route-running polish isn’t explicitly shown; focus on adding mass for sustained physicality.

Ploog has the ideal frame and size for the FBS level and is a high floor guy that excels both running routes and creating seperation downfield and blocking in the box. He shows he can create vertical push to create the edge and get to the second level/block in space effectively. In the passing game, he has strong hands in traffic and a big catch radius in tight coverage while able to win on 50/5 balls and quickly gain yards after the catch. Overall, he is a very physical ball carrier with plus blocking skills to go along with his receiving abilities. Currently he holds one offer from SDSU and should see a slew of other FCS+ offers come in this spring and through his senior year for Troy.

Ploog is another one of the top tight end prospects that no one seems to know about and will have a monster off-season before his senior year and will burst onto the recruiting scene. He is a monster target downfield and a very good athlete for his size that shows lateral movement, sinks his hips in and out of his breaks and can run a variety of different in breaking and out breaking routes at the second and third level. He has strong hands when making contested plays and is physical with the ball, often looking for contact and extremely tough to take down in the open field. He is a mismatch nightmare for defensive backs and linebackers and is another no-brainer D1 talent that already has an offer from SDSU.
