At some point during this rankings update, Grant Van Raapohorst moved from the east coast to the west coach; however, I still wish to give him his flowers. At receiver, Van Raapohorst has a quick stutter move when defenders are squared up, enabling to get behind them. There is a bit more than meets the eye, as Van Raapohorst is both faster and quicker than he looks. Additionally, you may not expect him to have a lot of wiggle – but he does. Curl routes are ran extremely quick, as Van Raapohorst is in-and-out of them, sinking his hips too. Van Raapohorst plays like he is a small, quick, slot receiver, as he has shown apt at stopping, going, and playing off his ability to change direction. Moreover, we see him have an ability to get defenders to turn their hips late and get behind him, showing he can stretch the field. When possessing the ball, Van Raapohorst will pin it to his body; however, I wish to see him use his hands more frequently to catch the ball.

is a name that will gain serious traction this fall. The 5’10”, 167-pound sophomore wideout from Delbarton has elite-level hips and suddenness that you don’t often see in young receivers.
His ability to change direction, especially at the top of routes, makes him a nightmare for defenders in one-on-one situations. That kind of short-area quickness gives him instant separation, and it’s already earning him buzz after a strong Prep Redzone camp performance.
With Philip Fomar off to Buffalo, Van Raaphorst is entering a prime opportunity. Delbarton’s offense will need a new go-to guy, and Grant looks ready to seize that role. He’ll be a key weapon in an already talented receiver room and should quickly establish himself as one of the top young route runners in New Jersey.
