Petero ran for 334 yards with three touchdowns as a freshman for Santa Margarita this season.
He’s a good start/stop running back with quick feet and good short-area quickness. Petero navigates traffic in the first two levels well and can break tackles well for a guy his size. The Santa Margarita coaching staff raves about him and he will keep climbing the rankings as he keeps developing.
Petero ran for 334 yards with three touchdowns as a freshman for Santa Margarita this season.
He’s a good start/stop running back with quick feet and good short-area quickness. Petero navigates traffic in the first two levels well and had the game-winning touchdown run against Centennial.
Petero burst onto the scene in his freshman season for the number one team in the state, and is a explosive and compact runner that has great initial explosion, foot speed and start/stop abilities in the open field. He is a tough and physical vertical runner that can break tackles at the first two levels, shows good vision in tight spaces and cutback abilities while showing he is a natural forward leaner that can gain the tough yards inside. He is also a terrific pass catcher out of the backfield with natural hands and short area route running abilities and can quickly knife upfield. Heading into his second season, he is going to be one of the top backs in the trinity league, and received second team All-League Honors this fall.
Petero has serious burst and showed incredible strength during his game-winning touchdown run in overtime. He drives his feet through contact and can turn on the speed when he gets past the second level.
Petero is a compact back built for the mileage. He is quick, strong, and elusive at all levels. You can tell he’s quad dominant and it’s not smart to shoot him low, because it will end up with your tacklers being on his highlight reels. My man puts his foot in the ground last minute and burst upfield with urgency, scrapping for yacs. I also like when he shows patience and allows things to set up before dicing through skinny run lanes.
